Neck Deep, Slam Dunk Festival 2025

REVIEW: The connection that Neck Deep and Slam Dunk share runs deep. From first being voted onto the line-up back in 2013 to becoming mainstays of the festival’s main stage, making sure to dominate every other stage on their way up, too, they are a testament to where hard work, determination and passion-fueled tenacity can take you. Yet despite their previous victories already etched into the history books, something about today feels even more ultimate. A graduation to an even higher place. The selection of underdog anthems they have at their disposal, from a buoyant ‘Motion Sickness’ to a spirited ‘Can’t Kick Up The Roots’, are now definitive pop-punk classics. Freshly baked banger ‘You Should See Me Now’ is already being received like an old friend, ‘She’s A God’ and ‘Lowlife’ continue to demonstrate how far the band’s wings can scratch and the mayhem that accompanies ‘Kali Ma’ and ‘Gold Steps’ is still as marvellous to behold as it was a decade ago. Though it’s ‘A Part Of Me’ that, 13 years after its viral debut, remains the measuring stick for how massive this has all become. From their bedrooms in Wrexham to the very forefront of the genre they adore so much, the volume of the sing-along that accompanies it alone is enough to get you a touch choked up. It perfectly sums up a powerful, pride-filled display that further cements Neck Deep’s place at the top of the ladder. Future headliner? Without a shadow of a doubt.
