To all of our friends around the world,

Under the yoke of the Islamic Republic, Iran is identified in your minds with terrorism, extremism, and poverty. The real Iran is a different Iran. A beautiful, peace-loving, and flourishing Iran.

It is the Iran that existed before the Islamic Republic, and it is the Iran that will rise again from its ashes the day the Islamic Republic falls.

So let me be clear about how a free Iran will act toward its neighbors and the world, after the fall of this regime.

In security and foreign policy, Iran’s nuclear military program will end. Support for terrorist groups will cease immediately. A free Iran will work with regional and global partners to confront terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and extremist Islamism.

Iran will act as a friend and a stabilizing force in the region. And it will be a responsible partner in global security.

In diplomacy, relations with the United States will be normalized and our friendship with America and her people will be restored. The State of Israel will be recognized immediately. We will pursue the expansion of the Abraham Accords into the Cyrus accords bringing together a free Iran, Israel, and the Arab world.

A new chapter will begin, grounded in mutual recognition, sovereignty, and national interest.

In energy, Iran holds some of the largest oil and gas reserves in the world. A free Iran will become a reliable energy supplier to the free world. Policy-making will be transparent. Iran’s actions will be responsible. Prices will be predictable.

In transparency and governance, Iran will adopt and enforce international standards. Money laundering will be confronted. Organized corruption will be dismantled. Public institutions will answer to the people.

In the economy, Iran is one of the world’s last great untapped markets. Our population is educated, modern, with a diaspora that connects it to the four corners of the world. A democratic Iran will open its economy to trade, investment, and innovation. And Iran will seek to invest in the world.

Opportunity will replace isolation.

This is not an abstract vision. It is a practical one. Grounded in national interest, stability, and cooperation.
To achieve this, now is the time to stand with the Iranian people. The fall of the Islamic Republic and the establishment of a secular, democratic government in Iran will not only restore dignity to my people, it will benefit the region and the world.

A free Iran will be a force for peace. For prosperity. And for partnership.

There is no straight line from losing to the Islamic Republic and thinking that Beijing, Moscow, and Pyongyang will stand down or be deterred.

The same was true in 2013 with Obama’s redline crisis in Syria, which paved the way for Putin’s intervention in Syria.

The same exists for Biden’s botched withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 and failing to deter Putin from invading Ukraine in 2022.

همین الان اتفاقی این ویدیو رو توی اینستاگرام دیدم. تنهایی توی اتاقم زدم زیر گریه.

ملت ما ۴۷ ساله که این همه درد و ظلم و سرکوب رو تحمل می‌کنه. شنیدن همین یه جمله ساده — «ایران آزاده» — و تصور اینکه اون روز همه‌مون چه حسی خواهیم داشت، یه شادی عظیم و در عین حال یه درد غیرقابل‌تحمل رو توی وجودم زنده کرد؛ چون هنوز به اون روز نرسیدیم.

نمی‌تونم از فکر کردن به یه سؤال دست بکشم: کی؟ کی بالاخره موفق می‌شیم کشور زیبامون رو از شر این رژیم وحشی خلاص کنیم؟

هر روز، از چهار سال پیش تا امروز، با فکر کردن به چهار چیز ادامه می‌دم: به همه‌ی جاویدنام‌هایی که جونشون رو برای کشورمون فدا کردن؛ به اون روزی که سوار اون هواپیما بشم و برای همیشه به سرزمینم برگردم؛ به روزی که شادی مردممون رو ببینم که همه‌جا توی خیابون‌ها فوران کرده؛ و به روزی که ببینم پاهای خاندان پهلوی دوباره سرزمین ایران رو لمس می‌کنه تا کشورمون رو از نو بسازن.

اون روز می‌رسه. برای اون‌ها. برای ما. برای ایران. 👑

🚨And you wonder why things continue to go south on Iran… it is because the analytical frame is totally off.

First the public was told (by press and analysts against intervention) that the 40-Day War killed off the restraint oriented leadership in Iran and instead promoted “hardliners and the IRGC.”

BUT this thinking misread or ignored (depending on how charitable you want to be) the fact that Khamenei Sr. — who had just ordered the killing of ~40 K Iranian protestors this January and for decades has promoted hardline and confrontational policies like nuclear hedging, missile expansion, unequivocal terror support as well as hardline people for 37 years — was also hardline. He also supported the IRGC’s rise.

Such reportage and analysis missed the fact that Khamenei, the hardline clergy, and the Guard Corps are partners in power in the Islamic Republic.

Then when major fighting ended this spring and Iran began to reshuffle deck chairs on the titanic, we were told to be wary of this “new” class at the helm. Specifically, analysts trotted out the anecdote that the new SNSC Chief Zolghadr was so hardline that even former IRGC-QF Chief Soleimani had issues with him!

This same class kept talking about a “younger” generation at the helm too. This again missed the fact the the most important personalities in Iran are cut from the same cloth, largely ideological 50-70 (-ish) year old Islamist males mostly not from Tehran whose formative experience was the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq War.

Now we are to believe that the musical chairs in Tehran today are the result of the deep-state and old-guard reconsolidating control. Here’s the secret: they never gave it up. The changes you see in Iran are the result of the 12-Day War and 40-Day War having THINNED THE HERD of military and security elites in Iran. Vahidi and Rezaie were involved in Iran-Contra back in the day (the crisis most of Washington has forgotten about). Both of them are also wanted for the 1994 AMIA bombing in Argentina. Both are IRGC veterans.

Iran policy by tweet, truth social, or Axios leak will miss all of this.

در اوایل دهه۹۰ شمسی مخالفان بشار اسد با یکدیگر متحد شدند و خیلی از کشورهای غربی هم از آنها حمایت میکردند. تا اینکه اتفاقی جلوی دوربین‌ها افتاد و خیلی چیزها را عوض کرد.
یک ویدئو منتشر شد که یک نفر که گفته میشد جزو جنگجویان مخالف اسد است، قلب یک سرباز ارتش سوریه را از سینه‌اش در آورد و جلوی دوربین شروع به خوردنش کرد. فیلمی که طبیعتا همه را شوکه کرد و سیل اعلام انزجار جهانی را به‌دنبال داشت، و باعث شد چهره‌ای خشن و ترسناک از مخالفان اسد به دنیا مخابره شود.
خب، حالا برگردیم به امروز و ایران. یک فیلم توسط رسانه‌های رژیم منتشر شده از صحنه‌هایی شطرنجی‌شده که ادعا میشود مربوط است به "کشتنِ یک مداح حکومتی با در آوردن قلبش درحالیکه او هنوز زنده است"، و در ادامه ادعا میکنند که "کار مخالفان رژیم است". شباهت را می‌بینید؟
حکومتی که هزاران جنایت خوفناک علیه مردم ایران کرده و ده‌ها هزار نفر از آنها را به گلوله بسته و در خیابان‌ها هدشات کرده و با قمه و تبر مغز آنها را از جمجمه بیرون کشیده و حتی روی تخت بیمارستان هم شهروندان بیدفاع زخمی‌شده را تیر خلاص زده، قصد دارد با استناد به یک ویدئو مخالفان خودش را "اشخاصی خشن با رفتارهایی غیر انسانی" معرفی کند.
طبیعتا گرفتن انتقام از جلادان مردم‌کش حکومتی را حق مردم میدانم و هرجا اگر هموطنانم انتقامی از زباله‌های حکومتی بگیرند، خوشحال میشوم و تمام‌قد حمایت میکنم. این فیلم و خبر و نحوه‌ی انتشارش اما مشکوک است.
