2.The lawyer of the new owner should have been a part of the initial meeting held with the tenants so that introductions can be made . Copies of the notices should be given to the lawyer as evidence .
3. Finally, the lawyer can take up any tenant who refuses to vacate .

A house was sold recently . The family met with the tenants and told them it was given to a developer. They gave all tenants till Sept 2026 to quit via a letter.2 weeks after, the tenants received 7 days notices of owners intention from a lawyer who claimed

He was representing the new owner . Two different letters . The house was actually sold . If this gets to court ,the matter will drag for a long time . This is what they should have done .
1.The family should have issued the notices to quit and copy the lawyer of the new owner.

Imagine paying 7m for Govt permits, approvals and another 5m to omo onile for foundation ,slab and roofing stages. That's an extra 12m added to the cost of construction yet we want house rents in Lag to be affordable ?

@itzchristunique Tenants need to ask the right questions about issues like this before parting with their money. Even prepaid meters often have debt on them. The best option here is to choose the lesser evil; paying the power bill is better than seeking a refund of rent which won't come .

@egi_nupe You are right and in fact the tenancy law is tilted in favour of the tenant .Nevertheless,it's not easy to get suitable accommodation especially one that is near your work place, church,family and your children's school. This is why many tenants settle for what is dished to them.
