And 42 years later we’re still largely using the same carriages.
We’re just so brutal at public transport projects in this country. It’s even stranger considering we’ve no car industry to protect or vested business interests against public transport.
@UtdAbzy The sooner Irish journalists move past these “tell us we’re great” questions the better. It’s cringe and belongs to an era when the church ruled Ireland.

We are still super excited for what’s to come after Wednesday night’s UEFA EURO 2028 Official Launch. Did you know? … Northern Ireland, whilst not hosting matches, is an important partner in ensuring EURO 2028 will be a great success and a fantastic football celebration. Belfast is confirmed to host the UEFA EURO 2028 Qualifying Draw on 6 December 2026 and there will be opportunities for supporters and communities to be engaged and ensure a lasting legacy is created for the people of Northern Ireland. One of the legacies of the successful staging of the Tournament will be lasting relationships between Dublin and Belfast, and a spirit of cooperation on the island of Ireland!

Every person in every community across Ireland – as well as international fans – should feel welcome at Euro 2028 in Dublin. There will be opportunities for everyone to get involved, whether as spectators, volunteers or across a wide-ranging festival programme including fan zones.
