Plenty to critique about the barbican in terms of allocation of housing, but it was still, ultimately, social housing
The Left loves the Barbican, and often points to it as an exemplar of brutalism, but significantly, the estate was never social housing. It was designed for well-off City professionals and their families, with the flats being let at commercial rates.
Conclusion: using nationality alone, instead of along class, leads to a flattening of a very complex history of the empire.
In the arguement for independence however, I TRULY feel like none of this is actually relevant to a modern people's desire for self determination.
I also think if we are talking about Scots as colonial officers/plantation owners, you could probably tar Ireland with the same brush. However, obviously Ireland suffered far worse under the union, and Scottish capitalists profited greatly from the empire.
I there was some shenanigans where the English tried to stop anyone else from bailing the Scottish out, so the only option was the act of union. HOWEVER, due to the personal union, the act of union would have probably (unpopular as it is) happened anyway.
I mean they also get basic life support training and they still let the victim bleed to death?
Why is an entire cultural group being blamed cause of 1 criminal, not the police for the actions of the 3 officers unable to fulfil their supposed duty of 'serve and protect'.
