Some Nigerians are angry at this book by Carlos Barragan, as if they did not spend decades glorifying internet fraud in their songs, movies, cultures and communities. As if there aren't well known and respected celebrities who are known internet fraudsters. As if these fraudsters don't almost run night life in cities like Lagos. As if the language of internet fraud is not very common among young people in many places. As if Nigerians did not sing gleefully alongside Nkem Owoh when he sang: "419 no be thief, it's just a game, everybody day play am, if anybody fall mugu, my brother I go chop am.... Oyibo man I go chop your dollar, I go take your money disappear...you are the mugu, I am the master."
The moment Nigeria gets balkanized, that's when you'll realize that inside that your Yoruba Ronu, another Ronu dey inside.
Ijebu will start clamoring for regional autonomy in this new Oduduwa republic. Ekiti, Ijesha, Egba etc will all have competing interests.
You know why?
Because before the colonizers came, these people were not fucking...
dancing around in a circle holding hands and weeping with joy about how united in Oduduwa they were.
No.
They were literally putting bullets in each other's bodies and forcing each other into slavery in a multi century back and forth struggle.
There was no "Yoruba" in the homogenous nation state sense of the word.
And what about the middle belt? In Benue state for example, there are dozens (yes, DOZENS) of tribes who don't like each other and will not hesitate to pick up a knives or rifles to settle old scores.
The Fulani and Berom need no introduction.
Even in the core north, many young Hausa are increasingly discontent about the absolute political dominance of the Fulani despite outnumbering them.
Islam can only go so far to quell a people with so much latent resentment.
What about Igbo land?
Some Abia parents won't let their kids marry from the next village.
Anambra people turn up their noses at Ebonyi people and consider them lesser Igbos.
Okay nau.
By the time the "Ebonyi Liberation Movement" picks up EU-supplied rifles now to fight the "tyrants in Awka" everybody mind go dey.
When the "Imo Freedom Army" (IMA) suddenly pop out of nowhere and demand full control of the humongous reserves of natural gas deposits (up to 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas)...
And this same IMA starts bombing government buildings in Enugu and Anambra to get their point across....
Everybody go understand.
What about the South South where I'm from?
The rest of the Edo people most likely will not recognize the "divine" authority of the far away Oba of Benin and could pick up arms to settle their differences.
The Ijaw, Urhobo, Itsekiri and dozens upon dozens of smaller tribes will 100% pick up every weapon they can find to secure the oil for themselves.
So Mr/Mrs. Secessionist, I want you to understand that the problems of neocolonialism, bad governance and bigotry you're running away from in Nigeria will not magically disappear the moment you get Biafra 2.0, Oduduwa Republic, Fulanistan or any other ethno state.
You will simply plunge this patch of West Africa into a multi pronged civil war that will last many many decades.
Sudan, Libya and Somalia will look like a paradise.
There will be total collapse of supply chains, bandits and terrorists would carve out their own territories and the colonizers will be arming every slack witted tribal chest thumping young man with a rusted AK47 to kill his fellow miserable black man so Mr. Colonizer can keep extracting Lithium, Oil and gold for dirt cheap.
You will waste generations and millions of people will starve to death .
This is one of the reasons I am so so militant about this.
The colonizers forced us together. That is true.
But it's up to us if we want to keep flinging sand and knives at each other, or if we want to work together toward prosperity for our future and our children.
A Nigeria that works for everybody is the way. Toss your stupid Biafra, Oduduwa Republic, Fulanistan ideas into the trash and light it on fire.
every international grad in the UK who has applied for jobs here knows that the moment potential employers hear that you need a work visa, they avoid you like a plague. Yet a fee misguided far right canary wharf blacks want you to believe immigrants have taken all the jobs 🤣🤣
Option A: Artist is signed to a major label, typically minimal control over their music/career. The label also funds their career. Advance checks that needs to be recouped before there’s profit.
Option B: Artist is independent. Full control of their music. Has to fund their career themselves or outside help. No advance checks. No marketing unless the artist funds it themselves.
Option JAY-Z: Being integrated vertically. He can drop an album that he owns 100% to himself, then upload it to Tidal which he has ownership in, & distribute the music through Roc Nation Distribution, which he also owns.
Again, why would this man be jealous or threatened by artists who are
1. Employees.
2. Don’t own their masters.
3. Drug/gambling addicts
4. Don’t have NEARLY as much money as him.
5. & Don’t rap better than him.
We don't even share border with any ibo states but u guy's are always on our neck. If u can call Agbero and ashawo Yoruba culture I expect more hostility from u. We don't even share borders for crying out loud o
A Police Officer executes a boy accused of a crime in broad daylight. No hesitation, no regard for the rule of law. As far as he is concerned, he is the Judge, Jury and Executioner. Because he holds a gun, he is god.
This is why when they say "Police is your Friend", the words ring hollow. No society survives where the men sworn to protect life arrogate to themselves the right to take it.
!! MICHAEL JACKSON IS INNOCENT !!
Different? Yes. Strange? Of course. You don’t become the King of Pop by being normal. The court had its say. The jury had its say. He walked out not guilty.
We don’t need this movie wasting runtime vindicating a man already vindicated. And if you think racism had nothing to do with how Michael, a Black man, was treated, you’ve lost the plot.
Celebrate the man, not the bullshit. Michael lives forever.
The King is Still and ALWAYS WILL BE The King
Stay mad 😂
I’m a very patient man. His day hasn’t come yet. But when it does, he would fall into irrelevance on this app. The tweet that would set him at variance with the mob would be the first tweet he makes using his brain.
The reason why some of us continue to support Tunde Onakoya is not because we believe he's perfect or he has done everything right all his life. No one has.
But as humans, we figured on net, he's a force of good in the world. A true force of good.
Not only to the children in the slum which he has dedicated a significant part of his adult life trying to give their existence some meaning, but also to those of us cynics, observers and excuse makers; he makes us believe really that people can do great things from small places.
It's therefore heinous to deliberately try to bring such fellow down because of politics. Something he is not even evidently a part of.
There are a lot of people here that we can drag for their political choice. And we should. But Tunde is not one of them.
Imagine what an accusation like "he's on government payroll" does to his branding here. His legitimacy? His work with the slum kids? His global image?
You're literally trying to scuttle all the efforts and name he has built over the years.
The worst part? You don't even have the evidence in the first place to back up your claim, except silly innuendos of guilty by association.
Again, Tunde isn't perfect. None of us is.
But let's not pretend that such defamation campaign will do nothing except throw his brand he's been building for decades into the deep sea.
Again to what end?
Yorubas, we have almost ruined our culture through penetration, marriage, and cohabitation.
Take Salako for example: his mum is Igbo, and by his own account, her family has been calling his dad “onfemanu” since the 1990s (so much from people with “our parents don’t talk about yoruba”). His mother’s side didn’t even accept his dad. Yet, this man was still comfortable having children with a woman that her family detested you? That’s not love, that’s lust. And most times, the men suffer the repercussion.
He also mentioned growing up in a violent home, clearly an explanation for why he’s so aggressive.
We can’t overstate this: “women raised the children” and we’re seeing the long-term effects as thousands of “I’m Yoruba buts” children have been raised.
Ayo Salako hated his yoruba dad so much, and he extended that hate to the food, amala has suffered in his hands. He hated the people; in fact, Tunde all the way from Ogun State wasn’t spared. He bullied Opeyemi Famakin from Osun State. Let’s not even mention Baddy and Simisola (though they’re not saints) but he praised abia because he was raised to love ibo, abia and Julius Berger logo.
If you think the hate Yoruba is getting is much, sorry to disappoint you; this is just the beginning. We’ve been infiltrated.
Core Yorubas (anyone who holds the interest of Yoruba dearly), you can’t sit on the fence, or else your future kids will be ashamed to identify as Yoruba because the bullying voices will be so loud.
Protect Yoruba culture, that’s our identity.
Salako is the go to person whenever the mobs need someone to drag/pull down a person of prestige.
Subconsciously everyone knows that Salako is already in the abyss, that’s why his relevance revolves around abysmal content.
What a cataclysm for someone that claims to be on his 2nd PhD, but has zero tweet the research he has spent a decade on.
The audacity to drag Tunde for visiting Tinubu but still attempt to gaslight us into supporting Peter Obi that’s in bed with Malami, Lauretta Onochie, El Rufai etc is top notch. I really rate it.
Iya re o ni jere re!
When Salako lied against me on a Twitter space, he refused to apologise and recant despite multiple requests from me. It’s funny to see his shalaye up and down the TL now that he feels like he’s being lied against. Such a duplicitous fellow.
