@elonmusk@bennyjohnson@NPR Oh, then all for-profit news outlets in the US should have the same designation since they all enjoy favorable tax status (get to write down business expenses).
@DeanPreston From the article:
"It’s too early to know whether the closure is a factor in the increase."
What you are doing is making a disingenuous inference to drive YOUR narrative.
@_oatc_@shelleypowers@pescami@By_CJewett@mega2e You have to source these claims. The NYT article cites the discourse and the study - Slate article also acknowledges the potential bone density issues without relying on such claims.
@shelleypowers@pescami@By_CJewett@mega2e The crux being that the treatments are net positive to the youths going through the process and these youths need whatever help that we/society can provide.
@shelleypowers@pescami@By_CJewett@mega2e I need to look at this past activities a bit more. At the same time, I don't think this particular instance is "misinformation" - rather a piece of information that goes counter to the broader trans discourse w/o necessarily changing the crux of the conversation.
@shelleypowers@pescami@By_CJewett@mega2e All in all, as somebody who is open to learn about trans issues and support folks, I'm a bit troubled by Mike being accused of being anti-trans (to be fair, perhaps Mike may come out as being anti-trans in the future - I have no idea of knowing).
@shelleypowers@pescami@By_CJewett@mega2e The Slate article acknowledges the potential bone density issues but suggests that the cause hasn't been determined so the patient/doctor discussions should be facilitated - I suppose this was not explicit in the NYT article.
