Decolonize.

2.(of a state) withdraw from (a colony),leaving it independent.
Decolonization now, ceasefire now. Free Palestine
DHS raiding a member of congress's home is exactly what a fascist police state does.
This president should not be able to weaponize the federal government against political enemies.
I stand with Ilhan.
I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation.
I will not be silenced.
This is actually crazy. For years, we've prioritized scholarships and loans that enable students to choose low paying public service careers like teaching, social work, religious ministries, etc.
Future corporate execs and lawyers aren't the ones who need subsidized loans!
as someone who has built a sizable and approachable left community online, the secret sauce is routinely purging narcissistic woke scolds who deploy emancipatory language when they want to center their immediate desires selfishly as a separate convo is taking place. it’s also caused a lot of grief from ppl who see out of context clips, but nevertheless boundaries must be drawn.
i don’t know anything about the lesbian bar, i didn’t read the article, i do not care. there is literally nothing in the entire world that could justify how people are talking about the disabled community right now
i was concerned that the lesbian bar story was going to get used as an argument for discarding disabled people/disability justice and in response was told i was making it too deep and now there's constant posts about how chronically ill people are all faking it
So my expectation is not for leftist to “be normal” it’s for leftist to be better. Trying to society into a safer better place for marginalized people like our spaces are. Not to turn our spaces into a mirror of the bigoted landscape we can go outside to see
That shit is antisocial AND harmful. But yall let that shit rock because you think it’ll help ‘grow the movement.’ But you’ll check the marginalized person who calls it out.
So “be normal” reads as “let us operate at your expense to satisfy normal bigoted people”
This is the only time I’m speaking on this discourse but I think the problem is “be normal” is only invoked when a marginalized person is ‘annoying’ or whatever.
Kyle slurinski and aryan grim are dropping slurs and crying about anti-white racism but nobody is checking them
The CDC raised its benchmark for levels of the Covid virus in wastewater, adjusting a key metric for assessing the disease’s transmission. As a result, officials may now classify a level that once counted as high transmission as moderate instead. https://t.co/rbQw0Rl4lE
As a tenant organizer in Kansas City, we organize tenants on their material interests. That means building power that’s genuinely multi-generational multi-racial and multi-ideological.
It means radical black anarchists organize alongside elderly white MAGA men and woke grandmas and based trans folks and disabled folks and everyone outside and everyone in between. We don’t have voter records when we knock on doors, we work with whoever answers if they’re angry and ready to fight.
We say pronouns every time we introduce ourselves, because trans people flee their rural upbringing and find themselves in slums in KC. Those trans people build immense power with us and they deserve to be addressed like they want to be. We wear masks, because mold causes severe respiratory issues and preventing illness for these tenants is life and death! We have live translation and ask people to speak plainly and slowly, because language is just one of the barriers that the landlords use to divide us and we need to be accessible to our people! We prioritize impacted voices because the solution is ALWAYS found closest to those experiencing the problem!
Most importantly, we lean into tension! “Purges” make nobody stronger! Leaning in and understanding why tensions exist is how we actually grow. It’s how we build relationships with each other that become our true strength. I’m seeing this convo had by mostly online spaces about other mostly online spaces and making some sweeping conclusions about “mass work” that I do not see bore out anywhere else but largely non-impacted white male spaces online.
You’d never suggest purging people in a real life setting where working people hold real life power. It would be obviously blatant disorganizing behavior. On the other side, the “woke scolding” unfair and often mean postures that people adopt online are also basically nonexistent. When the stakes are so high, that posturing isn’t helpful or useful to anyone. People need space to grow and they won’t arrive perfect. And that doesn’t mean we ignore tensions! We lean into tension through comradely discourse and improve everyone along the way.
Go build power with your neighbors. Be accessible to others. Care about people and their specific concerns. Be uncomfortable! Take scary risks! This is how we will actually win!
Republicans want to make it illegal for children to speak to doctors and teachers without their consent because they are worried about what the kids will say.
Since some of you are willing to take an actual enemy from the Manhattan Institute at his word, instead of @realLandsEnd here’s the portion right after he cut the video: “ Revolution is sustained by care work, networks of food distribution, medicine, transportation, shelter
