Great to receive support from @DonnaJonesPCC earlier this week with our national campaign! Please continue to Sign, Support and Share , to help give PCSOs the recognition that they deserve in the form of a 20 year service medal! #PCSO#PCSOs#Hampshire#IsleofWight
I have signed this Petition
Fund a scheme for 20 Years’ service Medals for PCSOs.
Police officers get a 20 year service medal for their service & I feel that PCSO’s should also get the recognition in the form of a 20 years’ service medal.

Two Leicestershire Police PCSOs are leading a national campaign for 20-year service medals to be awarded, similar to the recognition given to Police Officers. Jo Burton and Pete Smith have both worked for Leicestershire Police for over 20 years and were some of the first Police Community Support Officers to serve with Leicestershire Police in 2003 when the role was first introduced under the Police Reform Act 2002.
Offering his support to the campaign, Police and Crime Commissioner, Mr Matthews said: “Our PCSOs are the backbone of neighbourhood policing across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland and are greatly valued by the public. Their hard work and dedication help to promote community cohesion, support the vulnerable and connect our residents and businesses with Leicestershire Police while also building resilience and strength in our neighbourhoods to prevent future harm. Police officers themselves are very grateful for the work they do in keeping the public safe. It makes perfect sense to me that an award is launched in honour of this fortitude and devotion, as already exists for police officers who serve for 20 years. Our PCSOs need to know they are a truly valued member of the policing family and deserve praise and recognition for making a difference to our communities.”

Not an easy role - a 20 year service medal seems a modest reward for sticking it out and serving communities for so long!

Many PCSOs act as the key visible presence within communities. In essence, they are the heartbeat of many Neighbourhood Policing teams , which is why I believe they should be recognised with a 20 year service medal for the communities they serve! (2/3) #PCSOs#Community
