The hereditary were the last link to historical meaning of the chamber - and idea of a House of “Lords”. The last peers were also some of the most hard-working, public spirited and committed members - particular on non-urban issues. Their removal needs now to lead to a much more fundamental rethink of the composition of the House - appointments focused on merit and independence not political patronage.

This is basic Christian theology. Teachers such as this put their congregations and themselves in very serious spiritual danger (James 3)

It is very demoralising to once again see a minister in the CofE show they do not understand that Christ does not abolish but fulfills the law and prophets (Matthew 5:17-18), and that "all Scripture is God-breathed" (2 Tim 3:16)and is the message of Jesus as the Word (John 5:39)

Secularism is actually a religious group with several ‘denominations’ - including liberal humanism, communism etc - that have rites, iconography, sacred buildings, seasons, and days, saints, & symbols.

It is anthropologically impossible to be nonreligious.

@2D0XPS @Rgt71Robert @DuncanHegan1 Such comments from ministers such as @Rgt71Robert's on the fundamentals of the Gospel are what make me wonder if someone like me who holds what I would consider "orthodox" beliefs is really wanted in the CofE. It is ministers such as @2D0XPS and @DuncanHegan1 who make me stay

@CRBernard @SLilacs69445 @quizure @WholesomeMeme @Pontifex Always find it odd that some people take the Gospels as God's word, but not the epistles of Paul. Mark and Luke were students of Paul's...
Of course I think all of them were written by the Holy Spirit but hey ho

@CRBernard @SLilacs69445 @quizure @WholesomeMeme @Pontifex If you only want Jesus quotes then look at: John 10:16, Matthew 9:5-13, and Matthew 28:19 are a good start. Seems odd though - Christians wrote the Gospels they're very clear about Jesus being God etc.
Also Jesus is still alive - very important part of the gospels.
