What REALLY happened with the blocked Spirit-JetBlue merger?
The Biden DOJ SUED while Pete Buttigieg and Elizabeth Warren celebrated ‼️
You can thank them for where we are today
I explain @VarneyCo@FoxBusiness ⬇️💪
Democrats kill your Spirit.
As of this week, 17,000 employees of Spirit Airlines have lost their jobs.
We break it down on Verdict: https://t.co/x2GC6hzbg4
The collapse of Spirit Airlines followed years of financial struggles and policy decisions under former President Joe Biden’s administration, not just recent fuel price increases tied to global conflict, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy insisted on Sunday. https://t.co/9SsgSxUhZX
Spirit Airlines’ closure shouldn’t pass without giving dubious credit to the main culprits: The antitrust theorists of the Biden Administration.

✈️ @PeteButtigieg made the WRONG CALL on blocking the JetBlue-Spirit merger two years ago!
The last administration let the LEFT inject woke ideology into their policies and now Americans are paying the price

Spirit didn’t just collapse out of nowhere.
They had a merger with JetBlue that could’ve saved jobs and kept flights running.
Lina Khan and Elizabeth Warren killed it.
This was entirely preventable.
U.S. Airways and American merged and it was ok. United and Continental merged and it was ok. Yet somehow Jet Blue and Spirit merging was a violation yet it represented less than 10% of the market. D’s brought this to court. Own it.
Had Spirit Airlines been allowed to merge with Jet Blue, it would have given them much more resiliency.
Thanks to @SenWarren, @PeteButtigieg, and all of their friends in the Biden Administration who backed their enthusiastic opposition to the Spirit-Jet Blue merger, dozens of regional airports will now lose service and thousands of jobs will now be lost.
Biden-Buttigieg could have prevented Spirit airlines from shutting down
But the AIRLINES and @POTUS’ administration have moved with grace together to help passengers and employees get through this and avoid disaster 🇺🇸✈️
AG Merrick Garland, March 7, 2023: "Our complaint alleges that JetBlue’s proposed $3.8 billion acquisition of Spirit violate Section 7 of the Clayton Act. We allege that if allowed to proceed this merger will limit choices and drive up ticket prices for passengers across the country.
"And we further allege that the impact of this merger will be particularly harmful for travelers who rely on what are known as ultra low cost carriers in order to fly. Those include working & middle-class Americans who traveled for personal as opposed to business reasons & who must pay their own way. By acquiring Spirit JetBlue will eliminate the largest ultra low cost carrier in the United States.”
