The road to the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon 2026 continues as the Mombasa Rwenzori Marathon Activation is set for 30th June 2026 in Mombasa, Kenya.

The activation aims at strengthening tourism, sports, and cultural ties while creating awareness about the upcoming marathon experience at the foothills of the majestic Rwenzori Mountains.

The event is organized in partnership with the Uganda Consulate in Mombasa, bringing together runners, tourism enthusiasts, partners, and supporters ahead of the main marathon event.

A community-based organization, @hope_beyondb, recently held a distribution of food items and sanitary items like soap to elderly people in Kasese Town.

They reached out to different elders in the area with support from local donors, who enabled them to deliver the items and ensure that those in need received essential support.

This kind gesture not only provided basic necessities but also brought hope, comfort, and a sense of care to the elderly community members.

Such initiatives continue to highlight the importance of unity, compassion, and giving back to the community.

Close to 85 students officially signed up as members of the Uganda Red Cross Society recently, following an impactful engagement session conducted by officials from the Uganda Red Cross Society Ntungamo Branch.

This school outreach forms part of our ongoing commitment to actively engage learning institutions across the country. Through dissemination sessions, the establishment and strengthening of Red Cross Clubs, and youth empowerment initiatives, we are equipping students to become agents of positive change in their communities while nurturing the next generation of humanitarians.

The Uganda Red Cross Society maintains a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Education and Sports, aimed at strengthening collaboration within schools nationwide.

The MoU provides a framework for:

📌Establishment and strengthening of Red Cross Clubs in schools

📌Dissemination of humanitarian principles and Red Cross values

📌Promotion of health, hygiene, and first aid education

📌Disaster risk reduction and climate change awareness

📌Capacity building for students and teachers in emergency preparedness

📌Youth leadership development and volunteerism

We remain committed to implementing the provisions of this MoU by promoting humanitarian education, building resilience among young people, and nurturing a strong culture of volunteerism in schools throughout the country.
