“In the end, his account of the bitter beverage has a hard-won sweetness. This quirky, enlightening, unexpectedly poignant book isn’t only for aficionados of the offbeat Chicago liquor, but fans of stubborn underdogs everywhere.”

I just finished Josh’s book. It is indeed a page-turner. It not only fleshes out a little-known “heroic” story, but also illuminates some of Chicago’s soul. And unlike Malört itself, bitterness is in very short supply. Marvelously done.
“The result is a page-turner filled with compelling characters and stellar reporting that you don’t have to be a Malört-head to appreciate.”

“So, yes, Malört is both a joke and a true tale. But it also is something much more—it's a great American story,” says @alcoholreviews1 https://t.co/cpKhZsRfeP
FINALLY: After six years, we at the Chicago Tribune Guild have won our first contract.
We are so proud of what we ratified today with near unanimous support: raises, bonuses, salary minimums, AI protections, seniority rights & more. How did we get this done? (1/7)

@willis3cal I may come and go but I just want no part of it at this point. That may change but I can’t abide by the owner and what he’s made it. There are alternatives so I will use them. It’s all good 🫡
