AIPAC's super PAC poured more than $30 million into boosting Haley Stevens in what became the most expensive Democratic Senate primary in American history.

Abdul El-Sayed, who made that spending his central argument, leads in early counting.

The voter's reasoning is the part that should worry the people writing the checks, because it has nothing to do with the Middle East.

It's a household weighing $30 million spent on one primary against what her own community is going without, in a year of $4 gas and a war two-thirds of Americans say wasn't worth it.

That's the shift, and no amount of super PAC money reverses it.
