The @CityofMadison is mourning the loss of State Archaeologist, Dr. Jim Skibo. Jim worked w/ Wisconsin’s Native Nations on the historic recovery of two canoes – one 1,200 years old the other 3,000 years old. It was a privilege to know him. Condolences to his family and his team @WisconsinHistory.

Well, that’s a wrap for the 2022 field season at the Gehring site. We had a great last week, including visits to @CahokiaMounds and @ILStateArch excavations, atlatl throwing, and a pizza party (along with excavations and backfilling, of course).
Students from the Upward Bound Program at Collinsville High School joined the SIUE field school last week. They learned about archaeological excavation, scientific data recording, and careers in field based sciences!
@staceylcamp This makes we want to laugh and cry at the same time. What a fragile, ignorant doofus.
And why do people always gotta bring cats into it?!
