@mattyglesias The “aprons” are inextricably linked to the soft cap - the whole point of staying under the apron is more exemptions are available. If you change it to financial penalties only you’re back to haves/have nots big market/small market.
@SamQuinnCBS It’s not just the perception it’s bird rights. Once a player take a buyout they have to either sign into cap space or take a three year deal to get paid big money. It dramatically reduces warning power.
@R0binHoodz@jjones9 People often accept jobs underpaid or with onerous conditions because it’s still a good opportunity. Often it costs the employer in retention or employee development. In the case of an NBA head coach, it feels pennywise and pound-foolish
@R0binHoodz@jjones9 Because there are strict rules about how much you can pay players such that cost control has a positive impact on team building options. The upside of this contract is they save the owner a few bucks. The cost is goodwill and undermining the coach before he even gets there. 👎
@BenTReynolds@InvertTheWing There should be less dead man walking games with 2/3 of the field going though. Instead there are more because the tiebreakers are already determined going into the last match.
@Nate_moseby Dumping Iguodala with the pick was a crucial link in the chain to get Wiggins. You can’t say you want them to make risky moves with the picks and then call the risky moves they do make (which worked!) “malpractice”
@SamQuinnCBS I think the reason you’re hearing about Lebron to the Warriors is that he could basically commute and live in LA. Doesn’t seem likely that Beon wants to move to Texas
