The MOU does nothing to address Iran's nuclear program.
Oil prices were low before the war, Iran was already at the table, and the Strait of Hormuz was open.
Trump's reckless war barely revived the status quo—but costs us billions, took American lives and wrecked the economy.
2/ If House Republicans really cared about addressing waste, fraud and abuse, they'd work with @RepGregoryMeeks, @RepLoisFrankel and @RepGraceMeng to pass the Saving Lives & Taxpayers Dollars Act.

1/ USAID OIG released an advisory on the Trump admin withholding family planning commodities overseas.
Rather than deliver these taxpayer-funded supplies, the admin is paying millions to let them expire in a warehouse.
This is ACTUAL waste of American tax dollars.
Rubio in March: We must start a war with Iran to destroy its missile program.
Trump today: Iran should have a few missiles, actually.
This war of choice was a strategic failure and should have never happened.

Ranking Members @RepGregoryMeeks, @RepAdamSmith and @jahimes are demanding the Trump administration brief Congress on the details of the U.S.-Iran MoU, any side agreements, and the administration's plan and strategy for the 60-day ceasefire period:
Ranking Member @RepGregoryMeeks joined Members of the Pacific Islands Caucus for a roundtable with Chiefs of Mission from Pacific Island nations. The Members reaffirmed bipartisan support for the Pacific and discussed shared challenges and priorities, including the impact of the Iran war on energy supplies, the importance of U.S. assistance programs, and the need to have qualified, Senate-confirmed U.S. Ambassadors in regional posts, as well as legislation to combat IUU fishing and narcotics trafficking.
Illicit trade in conflict minerals continues to fuel atrocities by the Rwanda-backed M23 militia & undermine DRC-Rwanda peace efforts.
If the Trump admin wants lasting stability it must address economic drivers of this conflict.
Durable peace requires more than a press release.
Ranking Member @RepGregoryMeeks met with Taiwan's Representative Yui to reaffirm Congress's commitments to Taiwan, including supporting its self-defense, upholding the Six Assurances, and maintaining strong economic and cultural ties.
Ranking Member @RepGregoryMeeks met with Maksym Maksymov, Head of @BringKidsBackUA, to discuss Ukraine's work to return abducted children from Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory. He reaffirmed Congress's bipartisan support for providing additional assistance and holding individuals involved in these abductions accountable, including through his Ukraine Support Act, which passed the House last week.
Trump promised no new wars and to lower costs for the American people.
Then he launched a war of choice in Iran and sent inflation and energy costs soaring.
The American people deserve better.
Ranking Members @RepGregoryMeeks and @RepSaraJacobs applauded the Committee’s passage yesterday of their comprehensive legislation to address the ongoing crisis in Sudan:
Trump and @SecRubio slashed American foreign aid, hurting our farmers and small businesses while making us less safe.
At @HouseForeign, I pressed Secretary Rubio on why he pushed these cuts despite the obvious consequences.
“We understand that elections and a true democratic transition cannot happen overnight. But neither will happen at all if the Trump administration fails to exercise its leverage.”

Ranking Members @RepGregoryMeeks and @SenatorShaheen sent a letter to Secretary Rubio demanding answers on the administration’s lack of progress to push a democratic transition forward in Venezuela

RM @RepGregoryMeeks: The future of Colombia must be decided by the Colombian people—not Donald Trump or any foreign government trying to tip the scales.
In 2015 the JCPOA stated explicitly that "under no circumstances will Iran ever seek, develop or ACQUIRE any nuclear weapons."
Now after ripping up that deal and launching a massively costly war of choice, Trump's just reviving that same language in a "new" deal.
The Trump admin's Cuba policy remains trapped in the past.
More sanctions, more isolation, more suffering—but no serious plan to empower the Cuban people or prevent state collapse in our own hemisphere.
Lift the oil blockade. Reverse 6 decades of failed policy.
The US sanctioned Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel and members of his family, ratcheting up pressure on the communist government even further. https://t.co/vEjw6y3SXX
