Felipe Jesus Consalvos was a Cuban cigar roller whose Outsider artworks were only discovered after he passed away in 1960. His collage work, involving cigar bands and cigar box papers mixed with objets trouvés, came to light at a 1983 Philadelphia garage sale.

On a serious point: we study and archive most cultural history through printed, recorded or transcribed information held in physical format. We still don't quite know what to do with cultural information that only existed online, especially if it was on fora or websites that were not backed up.

Sooner than we think the last remnants of Internet 1.0 will be beyond reasonable use. Relying on the Wayback Machine and some volunteer archives may not be enough to really capture the unique experiment of user-generated digital content, before the age of AI obliterates it.
