@Cric46966 You've had to go back 20 years to get that SA v Aus example. The IPL is entirely geared towards batters. India undoubtedly has some remarkable batters (Gill!), but it also has loads that would struggle on anything other than a flat pitch with small boundaries.
@RMTBolton All of the great series that stick in the memory that we've had in the UK in my lifetime have been 5 tests (or more!). India last year is a great example (and the Covid disrupted India series was pretty good too. All Ashes series since 05 have gone down to the final test as well.
@BatUntilTea@NoContextCounty We've got over 200 junior/youth players at my club. The only ones interested in the CC are those who are in the county pathways. In truth, not many of our senior members go to watch either.
@JohnBoyHastings@cricket_badger Well it is quite relevant to what you posted. People are getting excited about an unproven England attack that has potential. You referenced a proven Australian attack that has repeatedly realised it's potential.
@JohnBoyHastings@cricket_badger That's because we have also seen them bowl out good teams on good pitches. We've been watching them for over a decade. We know their quality.
@Jenny_1884 Well some of that is true, but when I was growing up in the 80s, both my parents worked, food was more expensive and crime - violent crime in particular - was more commonplace.
@AzzurriLFC Well, this aged well. In recent years at Headingley, team bowling first wins much more often than not. And remind me how bowling first is the conservative approach?
@chantelle_lunt Newspapers (not just The Times) can't be blamed for their reporting of this story. The Uni though, will need to take a long look at itself, for giving him the job in the first place and then possibly failing to put appropriate care in place for him. Either way, it is tragic.
@cerebrus187@WG_RumblePants Well, there's drinking and there's DRIIINNNKINGG!!! If he's just having a pint at a late license then the problem is just the curfew thing. If it's more than that then it is serious.
@ClimateWarrior7 Well, it's probably a mean average rather than a median. I haven't seen a Doctor for a couple of years, but a friend of mine sees their Dr every 2 weeks (with good reason).
@RealMarkLatham@JamieMagill5 A beautiful on drive is about the combination of elegance, timing and power. Harder for a LHB as most of the time they are just hitting the ball back where it came from. Matching the delivery rather than adding anything to it. Their off drives however...
@Unfeel34@CallMeSheri1_ No. It's a contest designed to make advertising money. You get the odd moment of greatness, but very little excellence given the amount of cricket that is played. Most of it is just very, very average.
