The formula to beat the Spurs is generating and making open jump shots - neutralizing Wemby's rim protection.
In the two games the Wolves have won, they made >40% of their FGAs taken >10ft from the basket that were classified as either "open" or "wide open" (closest defender 4ft+ away).
This makes the game 3 loss really hurt, given the offense generated excellent looks - with 47% of their total FGAs on open/wide open jump shots >10ft from the rim. But they only made 32% of those. If they had converted those shots at anywhere close to their season average, they likely win that game.
Game 4 reverted to more shots within 10ft since Wemby was out for almost 75% of the game. But expect the offense tonight to return to the approach from game 3. If those shots start falling, I like the Wolves chances to steal another game on the road.
@WolvesXWrld@SleeperTWolves@PAOnTheMic The organization knows he isn’t like that. It literally could not matter less if certain fans think he is. He’s a coach, not a politician.
I just really don’t get this point. What good does it do for him to say negative things about Julius right now? That would only serve to either pile on further and demoralize him more if he’s still on the team next year, or further diminish his market value if we trade him. Zero upside besides appeasing the loud angry fans on social media.
@Squared2The@cee_jay12489@SleeperTWolves@PAOnTheMic I mean that’s like saying you can’t guarantee that the Spurs would have made the finals with Brandon Ingram in place of Wemby. Julius is an all star caliber player. We had to bank on him turning it around.
@Jake_Klassen_@TWolvesLead Exactly. So incredibly simple but of course half of our fanbase is hellbent on taking the least generous interpretation of anything Finch says for some weird reason.
@Wolves25Champs@SleeperTWolves@WolvesGotNext@PAOnTheMic You have to be so dumb to interpret it like that. Any good coach takes responsibility rather than putting blame on a specific player, especially in a retrospective context after the season is over.
@Squared2The@cee_jay12489@SleeperTWolves@PAOnTheMic Our only shot at beating the Spurs was getting more production out of Julius. I guarantee benching him for Kyle Anderson or Julian Phillips would not have yielded better results.
@HoodieNaz_@Twolves_PR@KFAN1003@Timberwolves@PAOnTheMic There you go with the dumb insults again. You literally said “he is worse”. If you can’t see how that wasn’t clear then I don’t know what to tell you.
Also pretty ironic to be talking about education when you’re the one writing every reply in all lowercase with bad punctuation.
@HoodieNaz_@Twolves_PR@KFAN1003@Timberwolves@PAOnTheMic This is exactly what I mean. You immediately start calling names like a petulant child. And then you bring race into it for no apparent reason? Maybe you actually are like 14, but seriously - grow up and stop being so toxic.
Saying Julius is worse than Rob is hilarious.
@HoodieNaz_@Twolves_PR@KFAN1003@Timberwolves@PAOnTheMic Julius has made an All NBA team and was one of the best players on the team. Rob sucked. Obviously one guy gets a longer leash.
The way you spew hate at the players/coaches constantly - and then spew more hate at anyone who disagrees with you - is so immature and obnoxious.
