@RossettiAllen @s_n_morris@ENirenberg It’s their choice until the hospitals are overwhelmed and we then have to use crisis standards of care. I just don’t think we are going to “individual choice” our way out of a collective problem.
It seems no matter where I go, I find myself wishing that companies would employ (engineering) historians.
Someone who would interview employees and read docs and then write chapters about each major component of a company and how it got to be the way it did.
If ever there was a time and place to show up for trans kids, it's Texas in 2022.
Grateful for all the support from the community today who came to Transgender Storytime to show trans kids they are safe and loved here. Yall are the best and I love you.

so Elon spent six months in court saying Twitter was riddled with bots, was forced to buy the company, said he was going to create a moderation council for all content decisions, and has thrown all that out of the window for a "vox populi" poll that could be easily gamed
Certainly an interesting looking shove by Betsema on Clara Honsinger

@wendynather SV tech orgs started competing on parenting leave and other work/life balance benefits for a reason. Experienced ppl have seen toxic burnout culture before and avoid it. He is filtering for loyalty, folks without other options, and young engineers, not talent.
The bad things I'm worried about as Twitter implodes don't involve spectaular interruptions of service (though that will suck), but quiet data breaches and account compromises.
Great thread. Thought of an addition:
57) Bug Bounty: researchers still submitting bugs to H1. Two heroic bounty staff triage the submissions, but SME’s who can validate and fix are gone. IR staff who coordinate also gone. Researchers not getting paid, sell bugs on open market.
I've seen a lot of people asking "why does everyone think Twitter is doomed?"
As an SRE and sysadmin with 10+ years of industry experience, I wanted to write up a few scenarios that are real threats to the integrity of the bird site over the coming weeks.
Can't be stressed enough. There have been many kinds of H-1B related abuses for decades, but I don't think I've ever heard of a situation this extreme. https://t.co/r0erFrLmcX
I lead a team of 100 brilliant Security Engineers so I feel confident to speak with some leadership experience here: Being told you’re wrong by your team is a feature not a bug and should be rewarded with gratitude and praise and never penalized.
