@PaulSuttonKing There was George Henry Vize, poultry dealer, who Iived in Islington, then Wandsworth and Putney. Never married. He would have been 64 in 1910. Retired game salesman on 1911 census, head of household with widowed sister and her son, in a nice area of Putney.
@PaulSuttonKing@Dave_H_King There was a slightly earlier SS Boston City, launched 1917, sunk 1918. The photos in benjidog's blog do seem to be of 2 different ships, so perhaps confusing the 1917 & 1920 vessels?
SS Bristol City, a sister ship which would have looked very similar? was also sunk in 1917.
As misleading headlines go, that has to be up there with some of the worst!
As is the claim that "Immigration is fuelling mass unemployment among under-25s."
The "shocking new study" does NOT show that at all π

@PaulSuttonKing Think it's Irene who's smiling. Born in 1881, she never married, and died in 1971. I like to think she was the family's favourite fun maiden aunt.
