Unfortunately, all participants of the Kailash Sojourn S3 group, which included Terricia Govender, were in the immigration center on the China side of the border when the disaster happened.

Our volunteer Petra is in touch with the family and we are actively working with embassies in India, China, and Nepal as well as local authorities to ensure we have the latest accurate information.

We remain committed to supporting the distressed families of participants and to the safety of all the other participants on the Kailash Sojourn.

A terrible and tragic flash flood has taken place at Gyirong in Tibet - China, and one of our Kailash groups was caught in it. While on their way back, they were at the immigration office when the flood occurred and the building and much of the town seems to have been flooded.

All of us, including the volunteers and support teams are deeply anguished and are doing our utmost to assist in the rescue. There has been no official information on the whereabouts of any of the people who were at the immigration office. We are working with the authorities to see if we can get to the location and stand ready to be part of the rescue efforts, regardless of the risk involved.

Of the 21 groups who are part of our Sojourn, 495 people have already returned safely. 743 people are currently in Tibet, 148 people are in Nepal, and 77 people were at the immigration center, and 3 volunteers in Timure, Nepal.

To the families and loved ones of those in our group and hundreds of others who are affected in the region, I share your pain and we are sparing no effort during this profoundly difficult time. I am personally in the region to ensure the best can be done in the given circumstances 🙏🏽- Sg

A fresh controversy has erupted in Maharashtra over the proposed tree cutting in Nashik’s Tapovan area for the construction of ‘Sadhugram’. Actor and environmental activist Sayaji Shinde reached Tapovan and strongly opposed the move, declaring that trees are like “our parents” and must be protected at any cost.

Shinde slammed the government, saying that the tenders issued for Tapovan are wrong and that the Chief Minister must understand the public sentiment of Nashik residents. Expressing full support for the ongoing movement, he stated:
“If anyone attacks our trees, we will not stay silent.”

The protest continues as locals and activists unite to save Tapovan’s green cover.

#BMC मधील कनिष्ठ अभियंता / दुय्यम अभियंता पदाच्या ६९० जागांसाठी येत्या ९ फेब्रुवारीला #IBPS मार्फत परीक्षा घेतली जाणार आहे. मात्र विद्यार्थ्यांनी ऑप्शन मध्ये भरलेली सेंटर सोडून त्यांना भलतेच सेंटर देण्यात आले आहेत. पुण्याच्या मुलांना भंडारा, नागपूर अशा लांबच्या ठिकाणची सेंटर देण्यात आली आहेत. काही सेंटर तर अत्यंत गैरसोयीच्या आणि अडचणीच्या ठिकाणी देण्यात आले आहेत. जिथे गैरप्रकार होण्याची शक्यता अधिक आहे. त्यामुळं ही परीक्षा TCS ION Digital सेंटर्समध्ये घेण्यात यावी जेणेकरून सर्व गैरप्रकार टाळता येतील, अशी विद्यार्थ्यांची मागणी आहे.

राज्य शासनाने तत्काळ याची गंभीर दखल घ्यावी आणि संभाव्य गैरप्रकाराला आळा घालावा, ही विनंती!
