With @npr leaving Twitter (4 good rzn), Iβm re-contemplating this too. Itβs hard bc all of my research is here, & I spent years building my platform here. But I will try to start posting more on Spoutible and Mastodon. If u like my content here, pls follow me there also. TY. 1/
@JasonOverstreet I mean holy shit appoint a 25 year old progressive woman to her seat and let her get 60 years.
I cannot believe such a disingenuous take is being bandied about.
I *promise* you the powers that be will make the biggest example out of the 21 year old moron while letting the former potus get away with the same crime.
The criminal impunity only applies if you're already in the Fascist inner circle
@Angry_Staffer Cool, now tell me why the same speed hasn't been applied to the former potus who has admitted doing the same thing / far worse if he sold secrets to our enemies.
Breaking: Law enforcement arrested Jack Teixeira Thursday in connection with the leaking of classified documents that have been posted online, per US official. via @evanperez
Teixeira, a 21-year-old, is a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard.
@Lenoxus@lefttwick I'd love to believe this is true, but decades of corruption, revolving door of lobbying, and billions of dollars in campaign cash say otherwise.
If you like Rep X or Y and they termed out, you find you a candidate who vows to carry on their work, but gets to be their own person.
@bradys_01@lefttwick Choice is an illusion, and outside of a few persons here and there, you're gonna get someone who is gonna spend all their time courting and pleasing donors, because without gazillions of dollars, they can't keep their seat.
@bradys_01@lefttwick The problem I have with this premise is that the concept of being represented by anyone in the House is a joke
1) districts being drawn by politicians to protect themselves is a farce
2) the size of the constituencies is ridiculously large.
@bradys_01@lefttwick By and large, the American electorate has their choices forced upon them by billionaire megadonors, corrupt party apparatuses, gerrymandered districts, and a lack of term limits which allow pols to latch on like ticks and not let go.
