I'm also insanely happy with it, I think it's much better than the current Opus. Not in a direct comparison, of course, but specifically as a tool. Right now my problem is the lack of tokens, and I think it's already just pointless to keep track of how "smart" the models are

Overall I'm glad they rolled out token-efficient models specifically, rather than something that would destroy Opus 5.5, but at the same time be absolutely impossible to use because of how resource-hungry it is, like the current Astra.

@maria_rcks As much of a Codex fanboy as I may be, the Claude that just dropped looks like an absolute beast. And the lack of resets, the tiny quota and Astra, which is somehow impossible to use have changed the game...

I just don’t understand who could actually use this and how. Today I burned through 80% of my Pro x5 quota in a couple of hours using Astra Max at 1.5x speed. Literally, exactly two hours.

I had 6 pretty heavy tasks running, without subs, but still... that seems kinda weird, doesn’t it?

Been feeling the same way for the past few months. I don’t even really feel the difference between frontier models from different companies anymore — they’re all good enough at this point to just do what you need them to do most of the time, for most tasks.

But the limits still force you to fuck around with switching models, knowing which one to use when, how to route things, etc. It feels like the same kind of progress as when Apple shows off a new chip that’s 3000x faster than the previous one, blah blah blah, but you haven’t actually seen anything lag or slow down on the old chips for years anyway.
