High Sheriff of Cumbria - an independent, non political, voluntary, unpaid position to support judiciary, police, emergency services and voluntary sector.
Chris Holmes held his declaration ceremony at the Fratry, Carlisle on 28th March and is now the High Sheriff of Cumbria.
I have had a really enjoyable and inspirational year and wish Chris the very best in the role.

During my year as High Sheriff I have had the privilege to meet so many wonderful charities & voluntary groups.

I attended the Magistrates’ Court Mock Trial Comp at #Carlisle Magistrates’ Court.

A fantastic initiative for young pple to develop life skills & build confidence.
🏅I was honoured to attend the @Rotary1190 Young Chef District.
After intense local finals across #Cumbria & #Lancashire the finalists were whittled down to 9 Young Chefs.
I was honoured to be there to present the prizes.
☕️I visited the friendly & busy Monday Warm Hub in Alston #Cumbria
➡️Up to 40 gather every week for a day of refreshments, entertainment, talk & advice.
I met trustees & volunteers from several community organisations including Parish Council, Food Bank, Historical Society.
Grange Over Sands Community Foodshare shares surplus food and other essentials with local people which has real environmental benefits.

I met with Ian, Team Leader at Windermere & District Foodbank which is part of the @TrussellTrust network.
A dedicated team of volunteers collate food parcel 3 times PW for delivery/collection.
A vital service which relies on the donations & goodwill of locals🙏
