I’ll say it…Jack Hughes is on the team because Bill Guerin doesn’t want to piss off Quinn Hughes, who he’s looking to re-sign this summer.
Jason Robertson & Cole Caufield are much better than Jack Hughes at wing.

Yes - I said the quiet part out loud on our last podcast - that if it came down to a choice between wanting Michklov to fill the net this year or to struggle, I would prefer that he struggles. I didn't say I want him to struggle his whole career; I just don't want him to instantly be a star. Why? Because I saw the ridiculous blowback from Tkachuk being successful right away on Ottawa and Kotkaniemi struggling.
The kid couldn't turn on a TV or radio, or read a newspaper without being vilified endlessly. Reinbacher has received even more scrutiny than KK did early on, even getting death threats at one point.
If Michkov stars right away, it is going to be ridiculous on Twitter and in the media, as people like to judge players right away, and it's not fair to the players and teams involved - ever. Hughes, Gorton, the scouting staff AND Reinbacher will be relentlessly raked over the coals before Reinbacher has ever played a game in the NHL, and I don't wish for that to happen.
So - no; I don't want Michkov to be a star this season. To say otherwise would be an outright lie. I hope both he and Reinbacher have successful NHL careers...I don't wish for any prospect to bust. My preference would be for it to take a bit of time for Michkov. I won't disagree on it being a selfish viewpoint but I'm not going to pretend that I hope he scores 40 goals as a rookie.
