All time ump show in Colorado last night:
- Made the pitcher straighten his hat
- When the coach came out to argue, gave him a pitch clock violation
- Missed an easy call at home
Umpire Doug Eddings went on a power trip during the bottom of the 6th in the Cardinals Rockies game.
First, he demanded that pitcher Hancel Rincon (in his MLB debut) straighten his hat since no one will wear a hat like that on "his field".
When manager Oli Marmol went to talk to Eddings about the hat incident during a pitching change, Eddings gave the Cardinals a pitch clock violation and ejected Marmol.
A couple batters later, with the Cardinals out of challenges, Eddings made a terrible call on a play at the plate to gift the Rockies the lead.
The New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals have appeared in a combined 60 World Series out of 121 total events through 2025, meaning 49.6% of all World Series have featured at least one of these two storied franchises.
