We know @PaulaAnRo2010 is amazing. It's still nice to see others agree: read about Paula's research on #BNI in soil in her first PhD publication, which is an Editor's choice article in @FEMS microbiology ecology

#Patescibacteria in wastewater treatment: Previously largely overlooked due to primer bias, now found to be surprisingly abundant & diverse in these systems and co-occurring with microbial key players. Great first part of @Huifeng_Hu's PhD project

We modified the V4 primer to expand the coverage of Patescibacteria and depict the global pattern of Patescibacteria in global WWTPs. The primer also give better coverage for many groups e.g. #Chloroflexota. Consider updating your primer now!
Proud of @Huifeng_Hu's first manuscript as a PhD student – now on BioRxiv. With newly designed 16S rRNA gene amplicon primers a previously overlooked surprising diversity & abundance of #Patescibacteria was detected in >550 wastewater treatment plants 🧵

Check out our new preprint on Patescibacteria (CPR) in WWTP, why we didn't know before how many and how diverse they are - featuring a new V4 targeted primer pair that will allow you to explore the hidden CPR universe in your favorite sple type too :)

My group @DOME_Vienna will be looking soon for a #PostDoc in Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy (SRS)- imaging of microbiomes using our new SRS-fluorescence microscopy instrument. If you are interested in chemical imaging, physiology, or antibiotic resistance DM or Email me #ISME18
If you are interested in nitrification / sponge microbiology / CPR / interspecies electron transfer etc. please check out talks and posters from members of our extended nitrification team at #ISME18 @DOME_Vienna
