#MythBusting A common concern is that if we stop testing on animals, we'll have to test on humans. That's simply not true!
Ending animal testing means replacing animals with non-animal methods, like organoids. They're safe, effective & benefit people while sparing animal lives.
BREAKING: The EU has published the long-awaited roadmap to phase out animal testing for chemical safety & in research!
This is both a scientific milestone & testament to the power of collective action, heeding demands of 1.2M citizens for humane science.

Humane World for Animals’ Francesca Pistollato honored for her contributions to animal-free science. The recognition shines a spotlight on the transition to non-animal methods that are more accurate and relevant to human biology. https://t.co/IBjrBOGGB5
We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming European Parliament event organised by Humane World for Animals and kindly hosted by MEPs @Guarda_Cristina(The Greens/EFA) and Sebastian Everding (The Left):
Funding for Non-Animal Science: Moonshot for NAMs on 10 June 2026, 8:30–10:00am CET in Brussels.
This event will bring together policymakers, EU institutions, industry, and academic experts to discuss how the European Union can accelerate the development, validation, and adoption of non-animal methods (NAMs) in biomedical research and safety testing.

🎉GOOD NEWS 🎉
The @EPA is staying on track in their commitment to end animal testing by 2035! We have long advocated for ending animal suffering when high-quality humane options are readily available.

🏆 Proud moment for animal-free science!
We're delighted to share that @Francesca Pistollato, Senior Program Director in Biomedical Science at Humane World for Animals, has been honored with a @LAV Animal Award in the Researchers & Innovators category, selected by a public online vote.
The award recognizes her commitment to promoting innovative and animal-free science with the aim of advancing more ethical, predictive, and humane biomedical research across the globe.
Accepting the award at the ceremony held on May 29 in Rome, Francesca said: 🗣️"This recognition highlights the importance of transitioning to animal-free science in research, which is based on human biology. To accelerate the adoption of these methods, a cultural transformation is needed."
Every year, an estimated 190 million animals are used in research and testing worldwide. Non-animal methods can be faster, less expensive, and more relevant to human health outcomes. That's the future we're working toward, and recognition like this keeps us moving forward.
Congratulations, Francesca! 🎉

Last week, Lindsay Marshall, PhD, one of our scientists, presented her work—"Animal testing without the animals? Assessing the role of animal-derived MPS in regulatory science”—at the MPS World Summit in Washington, DC! 🐶
Science is evolving. Compassion is growing.
The global movement to end animal testing has never been stronger.
Like and share to keep the momentum going! 💙🐹
Two of our scientists, Greg Sower, PhD, & Lindsay Marshall, PhD, hosted a scientific roundtable earlier this week at the MPS World Summit! 💡
The discussion focused on replacing animals with advanced microphysiological system technologies in nutrition & food safety tests. 🐭➡️🧪
Did you know? Since 2006, EU laws say animal tests should be a 'last resort.' Yet regulators still request them—on mice, rats, fish, even pregnant rabbits—when animal-free methods exist.
Follow our #TestedForNothing series for more findings + how we're fixing this at the root.
Comment “YES” or “NO”: did you know EU rules say animal tests should be a “last resort”?

We’re at the MPS World Summit in Washington, DC, where organ chip technology is taking center stage as a groundbreaking alternative to animal experiments! 🧫🔬
We’re proud to help drive this critical conversation!💡
Ontario, Canada has recently banned the use of invasive medical research on both dogs and cats, a triumph against animal testing. Violators of this animal welfare protection can face signifigant penalties, including up to $260,000 in fines and potential jail time for individuals, and up to $1 million in fines for corporations.
“By recognizing that dogs and cats deserve protection from invasive experimentation, the government is setting an important precedent for animal welfare in Canada. We welcome this progress and clear commitment to strengthening protections for animals in research. says @humaneworldorg.

We were encouraged to hear strong support for the Biotech Act and investing in animal-free methods, and to see growing recognition that science can benefit people while sparing animal lives. 👏
Last week, we attended a discussion at the @Europarl_EN on how to speed up the transition to animal-free science while supporting human health, the environment and EU competitiveness. 🇪🇺🔬
There is growing momentum 📈 in the EU—and around the world—to replace animal testing with innovative non-animal methods and the recently introduced Biotech Act could help advance this shift.
We’re pleased to announce that, together with other NGOs, we contributed to a new EU regulation that will strengthen the @EU_ECHA’s work on chemical safety and prioritize animal-free science in chemical testing.
The @Europarl_EN has adopted the regulation, and it has now moved to the next phase of the legislative process.
We have boots on the ground to ensure these commitments turn into real progress!
