So proud of @savechildrenuk’s remarkable Chair of Trustees @TsitsiDC, part of an expert panel on Safeguarding today on the OU. Save the Children has seen dramatic improvements in our culture recently, and the visible leadership of Tsitsi & @SaveCEO_UK are at the heart of it.
UKRAINE: Save the Children calls for urgent de-escalation in #Ukraine. "Any new fighting in this conflict - now in its ninth year - could spiral out of control, with devastating consequences for children" - Irina Saghoyan, @save_children Eastern Europe Director. #UkraineCrisis
Our new research shows that UK families are being forced to choose between heating or food.
Money worries could force nearly 4 million households to go without heating this year.
This isn't right. Every child should have enough food and a warm home.

Great news on my 1st day back at work @Save_Children after hols...in the #Philippines –– the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act is now law = child marriage is now illegal. As 1 in 6 Filipino girls suffer child marriage, this is a strong step in our fight to #EndChildMarriage
"I won’t tell you how it ended,
& his mother won’t, either, but
beside me she stood & some things
neither of us could know. & now,
all is lost; lost is all in the ruins
of what happened after"
Lawyer-Poet @dwaynebetts, awarded the 'genius grant'. Amazing!

A month away from #COP26, & a world away from reaching our #ClimateAction targets. The threat posed to children & their rights is not theoretical: it is real & it is urgent. Babies born in 2020 will face 7x more scorching heatwaves than their grandparents. https://t.co/1TbNxWFfUh
In every emergency, the first responders are always local. Local people pull bodies from the rubble, distribute food, set up shelters. They are the true emergency responders, not us. In #Haiti communities can lead, NGOs listen, follow & support. https://t.co/EoT7hIc1ag
Our @oxfamgb paid trainee scheme provides experience in international development work to people from a wide range of backgrounds, including under-represented or disadvantaged groups.

This is a must read blog by a brave mother, who suffered life changing injuries as a result of #childbirth see the latest findings from the brilliant @masic_uk@LeighDayHealth@SanjaCN
We (myself included) rave about the importance of "hearing children's voices" in our programme & advocacy work - but listening without taking action changes nothing. Voice must mean influence. 5 years since the World #Humanitarian Summit, what's changed?

The final week is upon us! #TheBigAsk ends on Friday... Have you or your child had your say yet?
Don't miss out on a chance to get your voice heard... It only takes 10 minutes and could help make a real difference to children's and young people's lives!

I keep thinking about this. An editorial in @thetimes calling for an end to gypsies’ way of life. There is apparently no place for them in modern Britain. It seems to have attracted widespread support. It’s most sinister & the most horrifying thing I’ve read in the UK press.
A poignant reminder that in a world that hurts & one in which we can’t fix everything, we can still show kindness, fix some small things - and these are the things that often matter the most 👇
Save the Children is devastated to learn that Obaida, who we supported via our partner @DCIPalestine, has been killed by Israeli forces. Obaida was 17 and wanted to be a chef.
Our thoughts are with his family. There can be no justification for killing children.
Obaida Akram Abdurrahman Jawabra, 17, was killed by Israeli forces with live ammunition today around 8 p.m. in Al-Arroub refugee camp near the occupied West Bank city of Hebron. Obaida sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. https://t.co/7Gv0kNE2RU
58 children killed in #Gaza, 2 in #Israel. I travelled to both areas in the aftermath of 2014. Those on the Israel side were horrified by the pictures I showed them from Gaza. In Gaza I stood in a ward of children with their limbs blown off & broke down. It’s happening again.
Today, the UN Security Council, with the US, must unanimously DEMAND A CEASEFIRE!
The verdict of history will be hard on leaders ordering this senseless exchange of missiles on and from highly populated areas, - but also on impotent world diplomacy. Too many children have died.
9 children died last night. 9 little bodies today. 9 mothers in agonising pain. Maybe one of those children liked to paint, maybe one loved football. Maybe one hated to eat her vegetables (like mine). Feel grief as well as horror. Then, anger. #Gaza
STATEMENT: "Save the Children is horrified by the airstrikes last night that killed 24 people, including nine children in the Gaza Strip. A further 103 people have been injured."
