Today February 7th, 2026, marks 15 years since the birth of our #TrEd @AUB_Lebanon.
On this day in 2011, two foundational initiatives that would shape what TrEd stands for today started: the International Organic Chemistry Competition & the Makhlouf Haddadin Endowment to support the Makhlouf Haddadin Awards and the Makhlouf Haddadin Lectureship. What began as a commitment to scientific rigor and meaningful mentorship became the foundation of a growing educational ecosystem.
Over the past 15 years, TrEd has sprouted into 10 vibrant initiatives, but its core belief and guiding principle have remained steadfast: education is transformative when it is driven by curiosity, excellence, and purpose; when knowledge is shared across generations, impact continues to endure and transcend boundaries and expectations.
Despite the countless hurdles and obstacles that we have faced in the last 15 years, our TrEd honors today more than a milestone; we celebrate a shared journey shaped by students, mentors, and changemakers who believed in the lasting power of learning.
Here’s to 15 years of TrEd, and to the future we continue to build together.

Congratulations to Seungju Moon & Karen Hannouche for winning the 2025 undergraduate & graduate Makhlouf Haddadin awards, respectively. Seungju also won the Philip Hitti prize. Karen is the first student to ever win the Makhlouf Haddadin awards at both the undergraduate & graduate levels.

@RicardoRKaram @AUB_Lebanon In 1967, I was a student at AUB , my best friend was a daughter of a doctor in Al Gunaitera القنيطرة. He left his house and clinic and could not pay her fees and dormes. But AUB kept my friend and all the students from the West Bank till they graduated. We graduated in 69 .
