@du_Manoir@reillocity lol. Ok. You’re right. Hitting a glove during his swing was not a hindrance. I’ll just say per the rules he has every right to swing and miss as badly as he wants in the batters box and not contact a catchers mitt. And yes that’s per the rules. Just take the sweep and move on.
@du_Manoir@reillocity It’s really this simple. Batter has a right to swing or check swing any pitch he wants and never make contact with the catchers glove. Wells can’t reach forward to receive that pitch. Now matter how much you want to argue that is the rule. And has always been the rule.
@du_Manoir@reillocity Because he made contact with the catchers glove?! What am I missing here. The catcher reached out to frame and catch the ball which was 100 percent his issue not the hitters!
And by the rules you say you were quoting you’d know the backswing is separate and apart of the swing.
@du_Manoir@reillocity Swing versus backswing two very different things and think you also know the diff.
Of course he was hindered. Just b/c it was an awful swing doesn’t mean the C didn’t get in the way and he was rightfully awarded first base. This really isn’t that hard.
@du_Manoir@reillocity You Yankee fans didn’t like he swung and missed (and looked horrible doing) and made contact with glove. And got a free base due to the bad frame job by catcher. Ugly swing/check swing while making contact with catcher is first base every single time. Sorry.
@du_Manoir@reillocity I guess if you want to make up rules then fine but to be clear, the rule explicitly notes that intent does not matter. Even if C accidentally drifts forward or a batter intentionally flails their bat backward to seek contact, the umpire will rule it as catcher's interference.
@du_Manoir@reillocity You know as well as I do if a batter hits the catcher on his backswing that’s interference on the batter. Not close to the issue here.
The batter has a right to not be impeded by the catcher before and during the act of swinging. No matter how good or bad that swing is.
@reillocity He has every right to swing his bat inside the batters box and not contact the catchers mitt. Him making contact on a check swing, full swing, contact or non contract is 100 percent irrelevant. Catchers job to never reach into the box to receive a pitch. It’s really that simple.
@HolyRollerFuckO@nwblackmon And you can declare this after five games into career? Go find another team then. There is no chance the OL and defense are close to a finished product based on what was inherited for year one.
