Ward River Regional Park has been a lived-in landscape for thousands of years, with evidence of activity stretching from the Bronze Age to the present day.
Along the river, archaeological investigations have uncovered early medieval midden deposits and multiple burials, revealing a community living and working beside the water from at least the 11th–13th centuries. To the west, the impressive motte and bailey stands as a reminder of the Norman reshaping of the valley. In the 18th century, Robert Molesworth transformed the area into an ornamental estate, creating formal water gardens, canals, the cascades, and associated garden structures.
The 19th century introduced further industry with Brackenstown Mill, fed by sluices, races and water management features still traceable in the landscape today. Later, a police station and other civic buildings framed the eastern end of the valley. Each layer contributes to the park’s rich and evolving heritage.

PÁIRCEÁIL NOLLAG SAOR IN AISCE
Tar éis scéimeanna rathúla roimhe seo, socraíodh páirceáil saor in aisce a sholáthar sna bailte Íoc agus Taispeáin seo a leanas ar fud Fhine Gall ar feadh 3 Shatharn i mí na Nollag ag druidim leis an Nollaig. Is iad na bailte atá i gceist ná Baile Brigín, An Ros, Na Sceirí, Sord agus i Mullach Íde, Carrchlós Ghort an Droichid amháin. Is iad na dátáí ná an 6ú, 13ú agus 20ú Nollaig, 2025.
Tacaíonn Comhairle Contae Fhine Gall le fiontar áitiúil agus tá súil aici go gcabhróidh
an tionscnamh seo le gnólachtaí áitiúla trí shaoránaigh a spreagadh chun “siopadóireacht áitiúil” a dhéanamh sna bailte seo ag an am siopadóireachta is gnóthaí den bhliain.
Caithfidh páirceáil a bheith dleathach, is é sin gan aon pháirceáil i mbánna lódála, bánna páirceála inrochtana gan cheadúnas bailí, ar línte buí dúbailte, cosáin nó ciumhaiseanna féir.
Ba chóir a thabhairt le fios go bhfuil páirceáil saor in aisce ag limistéir i gCluain Saileach, Baile Átha Cliath 15, ar an Satharn ó cheann ceann na bliana.
FREE CHRISTMAS PARKING
Following previous successful schemes, it has been decided to provide free parking in the following Pay & Display towns across Fingal for 3 Saturdays in December in the run up to Christmas. The towns in question are Balbriggan, Rush, Skerries, Swords and in Malahide, Bridgefield Carpark only. The dates are 6th, 13th, and 20th December 2025.
Fingal County Council supports local enterprise and hopes that this initiative will assist local businesses by encouraging citizens to “shop local” in these towns at the busiest shopping time of the year.
Parking must be legal, i.e. no parking in loading bays, accessible parking bays without a valid permit, on double yellow lines, footpaths or grass verges.
It should be noted that Pay and Display areas in Clonsilla, Dublin 15, have free parking on Saturdays all year round.
