Ooooh… FIFA almost recreated my SOCCO! 😅
RIP SOCCO
(2023–2026)
You could have been…
You came so close.
Back in 2023, my idea was to combine a jaguar, a moose, and an eagle into a single mascot. In the end, FIFA chose to create three separate mascots instead.
Let’s bring them back together as SOCCO forever! 🌀
I have to admit the official mascots follow a surprisingly similar creative direction to mine, which makes me really happy. Congratulations to @FIFAWorldCup. In sports, the best always wins! ❤️😅

This is important, if you're working on AI research they'll actively and silently boycott your work.
today is AI research, be prepared for it to be absolutely anything where they want to compete (eventually all economy)

@emollick Just read your piece on Mythos (and Fable), excellent as always.
Even though I haven’t tried it yet, the sensation you describe is exactly what I feel when I build tools in @Replit with frontier models. I orchestrate ideas at a higher level than ever before, and the AI executes them almost flawlessly with far fewer interventions from me. It really does feel like the work has shifted from steering to commissioning.
Everything comes down to trust in that black box you mention, the place where all the decisions, iterations, and memory live. That trust is magical, until you see the bill.
The real pain point, and the one that makes this still unsustainable for most of us, is the cost. It’s terrifyingly easy to burn $1,000+ in a single day if you’re not extremely careful. That’s the part that still breaks the workflow for almost everyone outside big labs or well-funded teams.
What I loved most is how well Mythos seems to handle the routing you describe, delegating simple tasks to lighter models exactly like a great CEO who knows the exact strengths of every team member. Fable feels like that CEO: it doesn’t just throw everything at the most expensive model. It optimizes for outcome, speed, and budget. That delegation intelligence is the real leap.
And here’s the last layer I’m starting to see: the next breakthrough will be when these systems can natively negotiate budget the way humans do in the real world, “Here’s the outcome I need. I can’t go over X dollars” or even “Deliver the best possible version within this exact budget.” A true auction-style optimization. That would make the whole thing not just more powerful, but actually viable for the rest of us.
Thanks again for writing this. Super thought-provoking.
