i once worked as a live-in nanny for 3 small kids in hawaii. the parents were burnt out and didn’t really like parenting. they had 2 nannies covering 7am-8pm 7 days a week. the dad worked a few hours a day and the mom didn’t work.
years later i saw the dad had started a blog about parenting and financial independence. in the blog he said that self-employment was important to him bc it allowed him to spend all of his time with his kids. he said that in over a decade of parenting, he’d never so much as hired a babysitter for his kids.
anyway, there’s a good chance ppl trying to sell you some lifestyle thing are lying thru their teeth.
Thread: My Experience on Monday
I didn’t just act in this film. I did my part in building it. From script to screen, Monday was a spiritual, and emotional ride. I got to be part of it as an actor and executive producer. 🎬💫

Every day on set reminded me that our stories matter. Our roots matter, and we don’t need permission to tell them.
I’m so proud of this film.

My Co-EP @hurpechy is a big fan of Baba Alapinni, she insisted. I explained what we wanted to achieve to Baba and he said; Hold my beer.
Our Nigerian DP is not Yoruba @FilmWox We had a good laugh here.

🎬 THREAD: Why Many Nollywood Diaspora Resign Early.
I’ve been screaming my lungs out on this for a while now:
Collaboration is the ONLY way forward if Nollywood wants to thrive globally.
👇🏾
Let’s talk about diaspora filmmakers and why many quietly put in their resignation.
🧵
This is actually bad.
We really need to do better.
Some Nigerians abroad go to naija for detty december to use their bank card for obeleee then they go back abroad and call their bank that the card was hacked and it was not them that spent the money.
This is insane.
This is why businesses then say they will no longer take bank cards. It means we will revert back to cash and with insecurity abound, it means increase in crime.
This is how we destroy a trust culture in a society. This is crazy.
@Oleke_ Agreed! You can’t take such stance except you have a firsthand experience. I can tell you how many of his likes we’ve offered a couch when their “non-Nigerian” trophy send them out with nothing on their back, leaving them to the mercy of the Nigerian women they so much despise.
Our Nigerian friend who married a “non nigerian” called yesterday to inform us his marriage is over. Went to basic training for 2 months and he found out 3 guys visited the wife on multiple occasions btwn 8pm & 12am while she sent the kids off to family. Let Twitter fool you
