Hyderabad, Sindh: As a continuation of the decisions taken during the "Save Forests" meeting held by the Save Forests Committee at Miyani Forest, Hyderabad, on 1 July, committee leaders Zain Daudpoto, Faqir Muhammad Solangi, Mohib Azad, Nisar Laghari, Pir Muhammad Noonari, Dost Ali Noonari, Gulzar Laghari, and others visited Nawab Muhammad Khan Forest in Hyderabad.
Spread over more than 300 acres, Nawab Muhammad Khan Forest has been reduced to only a few scattered clusters of trees, which are also at risk of disappearing due to a lack of protection and management. During the visit, the committee observed that the forest's allocated water is reportedly being diverted and sold to local landowners instead of being used to sustain the forest.
The committee emphasized that if Nawab Muhammad Khan Forest is restored and properly protected, it can once again become a thriving green space, support local biodiversity, and serve as an important recreational destination for the people of Hyderabad. The visit also highlighted the urgent need for effective conservation measures and stronger management of the city's remaining forest resources.
