I continue to wonder why the Trump-47 Administration continues to let USMC whither on the vine in FD hell while unable to do their core mission, amphibious warfare, with the ACV/LCAC.

One option: Mattis/Kelly behavior in Trump-45. They could have set in motion rebuilding USN, USMC, MM, but they didn't. They could have applied boydian maneuver warfare to pentagon acquisition, but they didn't. As amphibious generals they could have made sure their Service was well cared for along with the others, but they obviously didn't.

I can imagine that the behavior of John F. Kelly & James Mattis in Trump-45 made Mr. Trump so pissed he is making the USMC his last priority. His critique of their performance and possible anger at their behavior is correct. On the other hand, the USMC is HIS now (remember that pesky line, "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America"?). I seriously doubt he would cut his own nose to spite his face, because this is his country now. He can remake USMC because he must: USMC needs to be saved, too.

Mattis/Kelly proved the Iron Law of Woke Projection. That is, they were both obviously dragging their feet on the Trump-45 agenda; I could see this all the way from flyover country in MN.

Their subsequent criticism of Trump was categorical: he is totally flawed in every way imaginable, the most flawed human they have ever met. So, the Iron Law of Woke Projection tells us they, Kelly and Mattis, are fundamentally flawed in every way imaginable, or, at least in their primary stated area of expertise...

...and, of course, this is exactly what we see: they are, first and foremost, amphibious four-star generals. For the Iron Law of Projection to be correct, their categorical criticism of Trump must really apply to them. We would have to conclude the USMC cannot do amphibious warfare, and, of course, this is exactly what we see. These two generals left the American People an amphibious Service that literally can not do amphibious warfare against current threats.

Marines and officers I met--all of them--always state they loved to follow Mattis, Kelly in combat. This is undeniable, but USMC generals are, mostly, like PhD's: a mile deep in one small area of thought, but an inch wide. Also like PhD's, they mostly behave like they think they know everything about everything.

"Technology" is such a simple problem for them that combat commanders always command MCWL, MCCDC without regard for demonstrated competence in military technology foresight. A retired Col/GS-15 artillery officer can preside over rejection and deliberate delay of all the greatest COIN technologies because, obviously, if you are a former Colonel and former artillery officer, you are competent to lead the Counsel of Colonels at MCCDC.

Really, they were both Peter Principled when they pinned their 3rd star. Example: Mattis let MCCDC oppose the most important innovation of the Iraq War Mar 2005-Jul 2006, then when he became my boss at MARCENT, he support me on MRAPs (Aug 2006). When he pinned his 3rd star his staff told him what to do. Example2: When he was SECDEF, he and Gen Robert Neller set USMC back 40 years by buying the very short-range ACV.

Trump-45 logic in hiring them was sound, they gave him an appearance of mature government discipline at the time culturally was of value. And getting rid of them even more sound, but his logic in the current administration, rejecting them and men like them, has been brilliant.

Because of their treachery (Mattis dragging his feet as SECDEF and then writing that stupid letter of resignation) and incompetence (bleeding-heart Kelly dragging his feet on closing the border, apparently unaware of his oath against all enemies foreign AND DOMESTIC) in Trump-45, I can imagine Mr. Trump leaving the USMC to dead-last in priority of modernization.

Still, DoW can walk and chew gum at the same time. There is no evidence they are building 21st C Amphibious Warfare. They should be. USN & MM ship building are a VERY high priority, but it is painful to see USMC 59-year failure to field high-speed, long-range amphib assault.

Our retired USMC generals' articles merely attacking FD(2030) are 100% correct, but insufficient. The Trump Admin must build 21st C Amphibious Warfare.

USMC cannot do its main mission, amphibious warfare, against current threats. I offered to help the Trump Admin, a problem I highlighted with 30+ generals when I was a Colonel, 2012-2018. They cannot be too careful not to notice my fingerprints are all over several of the greatest innovations of counterinsurgency warfare, and THEN 2013-2917 I went and found companies with they keys to high speed combat amphibs, briefed a former CMC, then a 3star in Quantico, then the GS15s got involved and wrecked it.

In Sep 2024, Michelle Bachmann said she'd help me, then in Dec 2024 reneged. @SECNAV needs help but ghosts me. USAF can spend trillions on stealth but USMC is afraid to ask Congress for money for 21st C Amphibious Warfare.

The SES roles all need to be eliminated. USMC must begin to apply maneuver warfare theory to technology.

Lt Sims wrote to Teddy Roosevelt telling him the Royal Navy ability to hit another ship at sea, while under way, with hand cranks that permitted "continuous aim firing" thru the roll of the ship. By the 1920s he was in charge of Naval War College opposing the amphibious warfare ideas of Holland M Smith, (as per autobio "Coral and Brass".

Bureau of Ships opposed Higgins Boats, stole the design, tried to design it themselves. Ike called Higgins Boats the most important new invention of WWII. We love our heroes for what they did well, but recognize their failures. Lt William Sims: gunfire at sea. LtGen William Sims: opposed amphibious warfare categorically.

Today, the role of failure to innovate is being played by MCCDC/MCWL/MCSC.

- six 2000-ton gantry cranes
- one 1000-ton gantry crane
- two 600-ton gantry cranes

In the entire 🇺🇸 US we have
- one 1050-ton gantry (NNS)
- two 650-ton cranes (Ingalls and Hanwha Philly)
- a handful of large, but sub-500 ton cranes

@typesfast Because USMC generals do not ask for the budget they need to create 21 Century Amphibious Warfare because they don't know what to do with the money of Congress gave it to them. They failed with the AAAV/EFV, they have no tech foresight to try again.

I'll never forget retired Commandant of the Marine Corps General Robert Neller going on LinkedIn demanding we be forced to participate in the Democrat Party neoTuskegee forced COVID medical experiment, that we all take the COVID fake "vaccine", that is, a shot that does not prevent you from getting COVID, that does not do anything a real vaccine does.

Generals like Neller are like PhD's, a mile deep in a narrow subject, but an inch wide. Since they have had a king's court around them for decades attending to their every need, they think they know everything about everything, knowing so much they can solve any problem in society in 30 seconds or less. Thus in this case he presumed to give us medical advice out of his deep, deep experience of clawing his way up the ladder of military rank.

@Capt_Mac_esq @MattWalshBlog, I'd trade my disability check for an ability to walk through an airport without chest pain, ride a bike with my wife around the neighborhood without needing to stop and rest. Sure would like someday to know my grandkids, Matt, but thats prob a bridge too far.
