James Joyce kept a huge book - the Ulysses Notesheets - full of “mad, obsessive” facts & citations that would power his famous masterpiece.
“With Joyce, you can be pretty sure he has thought everything through”.

Fantastic to see my lovely @lboroenglish colleagues today for my first Away (stay) Day as Head of Department. Thanks to @DrSarahParker, @hutton_clare, and @DecafB for helping to make it such a productive and pleasant day.
Many of my students are brilliant; some engage online; but they certainly do not all show up to class (which makes me sad because English as a discipline thrives in a discursive environment). No easy answers I think.
It is a cost of learning crisis. But also, post pandemic, we are educating a generation of flexible independent learners who coped in extreme circumstances in makeshift digital classrooms (some worked out they cd go solo). Some are still floundering from all that.
We are so moved by the kind words and tributes to mom, Dr Flicka Small, @muttonkidneys
We are heart broken but heartened by these memories and to hear of her impact in the parts of her life that we only knew a fraction of #Joyce

In memoriam, Will Noel, the John T. Maltsberger III '55 Associate University Librarian for Special Collections at @Princeton, written by four colleagues at the library. A devastating loss for our community, but his example lives on in the work he enabled https://t.co/VIFPrVN0Wr
