MDP didn’t repay any debt they rolled it over borrowed more n passed the burden on. Now, while they criticise, Muizzu’s administration is cleaning up the mess, repaying nearly US$1 billion in last 6 months. It’s easy to borrow. It takes responsibility to pay it back. 🫡 @MMuizzu
STO shud introduce its own range of quality, affordable essential products just as Spore’s NTUC FairPrice has done. Strong private-label brands can keep prices competitive, ease the cost of living n make quality essentials accessible to every Maldivian. @emsaeed@MMuizzu@sto_md
MDP buried this country in debt hoping the crisis wud crush @MMuizzu Govt. It didn’t
Instead, the lights came back on. Projects started. Land reclamation, housing, n infrastructure r moving in every corner of the country
They created the mess.
Muizzu is delivering the recovery
MDP created the debt and left the country in darkness.
This government took responsibility, restored discipline, & put the economy back to work.
The crisis was inherited recovery is being delivered.
2017: Pres. Yameen’s govt finalised a multi $1bn Saudi proj to transform the econ & break over-dependence on tourism. MDP deliberately sabotaged it via an aggressive anti-camp. Today, the same ppl lecture the nation on debt, debt they created. This crisis is 100% MDP-made.
Every time the MDP takes office, fiscal discipline erodes n long-term obligations r mishandled. When the cycle ends, the nxt government is left repairing the damage stabilising finances, restoring credibility, n protecting institutions from the consequences of past mismanagement.
