This ‘DNA’ possession thing from Tuchel is curious

He deliberately picked a physical/athletic squad - with some of England’s more technically gifted players left at home - he didn’t give a minute to Mainoo who’s good in tight spaces and can progress the ball up pitch.

But beyond all that, in the circumstances England found themselves, sitting off (a bit) wasn’t necessarily wrong, it didn’t require a huge amount of possession, but doing it with little threat of a counter, no way of getting up the pitch, no outlets, when you had the likes of Rashford & Watkins sat there, was inexplicable, and resulted in England having 12% of the ball.

That’s nothing to do with DNA.

Throughout the whole tournament I've said I DO NOT understand the Tuchel hype.

- Made absolutely shocking squad choices
- Starting XI was ridiculous
- England have barely scraped past Congo, Mexico and Norway
