Probably would've been handy for England to have Saka on the pitch in a World Cup semi-final instead of Konsa crossing to Dan Burn. But at least he's been saved for the main event.
BBC commentator Steve Wilson makes a great point about the irrelevance of the WC third-place play-off.
"Do you remember who won this match in 2022? I had to look it up - Croatia beat Morocco. And I was commentating on it!"
The fact Thomas Tuchel will be able to leave this World Cup with the 2nd best result in our history is an absolute travesty. I can’t believe we’re not in the final. I will never ever ever forgive him for the Argentina game.
Bukayo Saka, one of the world’s best players, just scored a hat trick in this (albeit lower stakes) World Cup 3rd place game … after his manager decided not to play him in the semifinal against Argentina, opting for 17 defenders instead.
The reason this is illegal in boxing and mma is because its literally a killing punch, attacking someone in that place can kill him
Argentina literally was 5cm away from killing someone in the pitch and it wasnt even called a foul, welcome to 2026 israel cup
The top 0.1% own $25,072,282,000,000 in wealth. We just gave them $1,000,000,000,000 in tax breaks. We spend $1,000,000,000,000 turning kids into skeletons. But, sure, worry about low income people enjoying a fucking cookie you miserable assholes.

This ‘DNA’ possession thing from Tuchel is curious
He deliberately picked a physical/athletic squad - with some of England’s more technically gifted players left at home - he didn’t give a minute to Mainoo who’s good in tight spaces and can progress the ball up pitch.
But beyond all that, in the circumstances England found themselves, sitting off (a bit) wasn’t necessarily wrong, it didn’t require a huge amount of possession, but doing it with little threat of a counter, no way of getting up the pitch, no outlets, when you had the likes of Rashford & Watkins sat there, was inexplicable, and resulted in England having 12% of the ball.
That’s nothing to do with DNA.
I went to bed mad and woke up madder.
The last 30 minutes were tactical cowardice in the extreme from a manager who was explicitly hired not to do that.
Throughout the whole tournament I've said I DO NOT understand the Tuchel hype.
- Made absolutely shocking squad choices
- Starting XI was ridiculous
- England have barely scraped past Congo, Mexico and Norway
- His tactics in the Semi-Final have been ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING
spent a whole 2 years talking about how you want England to play positive, front-foot, protagonist football. and you pull that cowardly nonsense when it matters against the GOAT while we’re on top. never lost that much respect for a gaffer in one match ever
Tuchel was hired for two games. He wasn’t brought in to help us qualify, he wasn’t brought in to help us get out the groups…he was brought in to get us through a semi-final and then a final and he has failed at the first hurdle. Sack him now.
