This AM, we joined our @PGFDNews daywork career staff & staffed a second crew due impacts from Winter Storm Fern. Engine 1 (third due engine) & Truck 1 (first due truck) ran the basement fire in the 2000 block of Ruatan St in Adelphi. Chief 1 assisted at the command post. #hv1fd
Winter Storm Fern is well underway and the Hyattsville Volunteers are staffed today with two suppression crews, a BLS ambulance, utility truck, and a Chief officer. Stay safe today and keep off the roads. #hv1fd

At 4:51AM on Monday morning, Truck 1 was alerted to respond on Box 38-11 for a fire in a metal scrap yard in the 2000 Blk of Kenilworth Ave. The fire went to a 2nd Alarm, and the Hyattsville Truck Company assisted with making access and defensive firefighting operations. #hv1fd
Engine 1, Truck 1, and Squad 1 operated on this working fire in the 6200 Blk of 20th Ave in Chillum. Units had smoke showing from the rear & fire in the basement, with extension to the 1st floor. Paramedic Ambulance 1 treated a rescued dog w/ a special pet oxygen mask.
During today’s fire in Chillum, crews from Paramedic Ambulance 844/Chillum & Paramedic Ambulance 801 @hyattsvillevfd worked together to treat a dog showing symptoms of smoke inhalation w/a specially designed pet oxygen mask. The pup recovered & was happily reunited w/his family.

Squad 1 extricated one patient from this vehicle accident this morning on Veterans Parkway just prior to Annapolis Rd. This is the second vehicle extrication for the Squad in the last three days. #hv1fd
On Sunday evening at 9:03pm, Squad 1 was dispatched for the vehicle accident on NB Baltimore Washington Parkway. Squad 1 arrived on scene with Paramedic Engine 30 to find one trapped and requested the assignment. Squad 1 extricated one patient and handed off to EMS units. #hv1fd
