Aseel, a 6yo girl brought in after a bomb blast to her home with a large stone projectile implanted into her orbit.
Pre-op she cries for her baba (father), but he didn’t make it.
She’s covered in dust. Her hair is burnt. She lost her eye.
This could’ve been my own daughter
Thank you @CBCTheNational and @adriearsenault for the story on the medical crisis in Gaza.
From shrapnel face, to toddlers with head trauma, to projectile rocks the size of an eyeball, these forgotten people have been thru hell and back.
They do not deserve this.
Immensely proud of my father and the work he is doing. It’s one thing to follow this thru the news, it’s a whole different situation hearing it first hand.
Breaks my heart to hear his stories, and that the reality on the ground is worse than what we see online.
Situation here worse than you can imagine. You can’t.
My heroes are the Palestinian physicians, surgeons, nurses and healthcare workers that I’m working with now. They are working 24h/day nonstop without complaint.
Thank you to @AJEnglish for sharing my experience

Dr. Yasser Khan, a Canadian ophthalmologist, operating on the injured at the European hospital in Gaza’s Khan Younis, said the 'human tragedy is so huge,' after he arrived to the strip, along with a team of seven doctors to help a weary Palestinian medical staff
In addition, the hospital has an absence of ocular medications and surgical instruments.
No antibiotics, no steroids, no glaucoma meds, no topical anesthetic, no dilating drops.
The surgical instruments they do have are old and rusted, yet they have to use them. (3/3)
I spoke to the department head of Ophthalmology in the European Gaza Hospital and Nasser Hospital.
They are struggling.
Many of the eyecare professionals were North Gaza and did not make it. The number of complex optho trauma cases are numerous (1/3)
Over the next 10 days, I will be sharing my experiences while I embark on a surgical mission into Gaza. I hope to shed some light on the realities of the dire healthcare conditions at Gaza European Hospital and Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis.
Another Western journalist walks back on the most lurid Israeli atrocity misinformation of the war so far.
Damage done: the lie is on many of Britain's front pages today.
