I see that “I must delete this app for the sake of my mental health day” has come earlier this year.
Find me over on Bluesky and Mastodon.
So long and thanks for all the fish.
Hello @AaronBell4NUL, constituent here. How do you feel about your boss attacking universities and consequently the major employer in your constituency? What will it do to the growth, prosperity and regeneration of Newcastle-Under-Lyme if student numbers are decimated?
P-wave and S-wave from today’s (01:42:17 UTC 2024/04/19) M2.5 #earthquake 8km depth beneath Belper, Derbyshire, UK recorded on my #Raspishake in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England (about 44km due west of the event)
@SilenceInPolish Write your talk backwards. Start with the conclusions. What do you want your audience to remember from the talk?
Everything else drives towards these conclusions. (If it doesn’t, ditch it)
And practice, practice, practice - out loud.

Congratulations to @LutonTown
I first went to a match (against Leyton Orient) in the old Third Division. I’ve followed them through the highs of the old first division to the lows of the conference league years. So pleased for the group of people that saved my football club.
Welsh #earthquake last night felt Cardiff-Birmingham
P-wave and S-wave from yesterday’s (23:59:41 UTC 2023/02/24) M3.7 Welsh #earthquake recorded on my @raspishake seismometer in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England
@whippletom We do have Seismic Moment (fault area x slip x shear modulus) which is in Joules but very few other than seismologists use it (other than to convert it to a magnitude number -Mw)
@whippletom But if you don't use it, what do you replace it with? Would the public understand that so many Joules was big or small? At least the original Richter Scale was based on approx. 1=felt, 3=damaging and maxes out just under 10.
BTW, magnitude and intensity are different things
P-wave from today’s (01:17:35 UTC 2023/02/06) large M7.8 Turkish #earthquake recorded on my @raspishake seismometer in Newcastle-under-Lyme, England [and now back to Mastodon]
@EricFielding The link is still there from before and still works from non-Twitter clients like Tweetbot. It was just the “Mastodon is Malware“ notice I was really commenting on.
