BIG BRREAKING: #Bitcoin miners begin receiving letters from the EIA forcing them to report sensitive data.

The miner who received this letter only has 10 days to respond to the request by the EIA or face huge fines or worse!

Fortunately, we have a plan on how to fight back, but let me share more about the EIA mandated survey. 👇

On January 24th, the Department of Energy issued a statement, saying that #bitcoin mining was likely to cause “public harm”.

The Federal Government then used its emergency powers in collaboration with the EIA to force miners to report their location, energy use, and energy supplier.

I have said many times that I strongly disagree with this move by the EIA to categorize miners as a ‘threat to the public’ while also mandating that miners report sensitive data to the EIA.

This is NOT how the Federal Government should be interacting with a new and growing industry that has so much potential.

The #Bitcoin mining industry is filled with innovators and builders. We should be encouraging them, not threatening them.

#Bitcoin mining has the potential to radically reshape the way that we manage, produce, and transmit energy in the USA.

#Bitcoin miners know this and they are more than happy to collaborate, in order to prove that mining is a powerful piece of technology which can do good for the grid, the economy, and the environment.

#Bitcoin miners are increasingly showing their willingness to be transparent. Bitcoin miners are ready to begin showing the world what this technology is capable of achieving.

I know this because my team has been working diligently with #bitcoin miners to help them showcase the ability of bitcoin to balance the grid and mitigate methane emissions.

We have been working with #bitcoin miners, large and small, to accomplish our goal of educating lawmakers and regulators on the incredible benefits of mining.

Just recently, we produced a paper with the former ERCOT & NYISO CEO which outlined the benefits of #bitcoin mining to the grid.

In both instances, we worked directly with #bitcoin miners to produce research that shows the benefits of this technology.

And here is the latest news!

Satoshi Action now officially has recorded 500 MW of respondents to our grid balancing survey which was launch just earlier this month.

That survey will help us better understand how often bitcoin miners are balancing the grid across America.

In the month of January, there was a significant amount of extreme winter weather across the USA. During those times, power demands skyrocket. Yet, we got reports from #bitcoin miners across the country who were shutting down their power usage and making that power available for ratepayers instead.

It’s very likely that during those winter storms, bitcoin miners delivered back enough power to heat millions of homes and potentially save lives in the process.

He told the other actor he couldn't get by the chair to enter the room in the scene.

This idea—of using the difficulty—became a defining mantra for Michael Caine's life.

"There's never anything so bad that you cannot use that difficulty...if you can use it a quarter of one percent to your advantage, you're ahead, you didn't let it get you down."

This idea hit me hard...

How can you use the difficulty you're currently facing?

How can you embrace the struggle?

How can you find flow through the friction?

How can you sow the seeds of your light during the periods of darkness?

As with everything in life, control the controllable:

The difficulty is already there, you can't control it.

You can control how you react to it.

You can control your response to it.

You can control your attitude towards it.

Ten months ago, we launched the Vesuvius Challenge to solve the ancient problem of the Herculaneum Papyri, a library of scrolls that were flash-fried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

Today we are overjoyed to announce that our crazy project has succeeded. After 2000 years, we can finally read the scrolls:
This image was produced by @Youssef_M_Nader, @LukeFarritor, and @JuliSchillij, who have now won the Vesuvius Challenge Grand Prize of $700,000. Congratulations!!

These fifteen columns come from the very end of the first scroll we have been able to read and contain new text from the ancient world that has never been seen before. The author – probably Epicurean philosopher Philodemus – writes here about music, food, and how to enjoy life's pleasures. In the closing section, he throws shade at unnamed ideological adversaries – perhaps the stoics? – who "have nothing to say about pleasure, either in general or in particular."

This year, the Vesuvius Challenge continues. The text that we revealed so far represents just 5% of one scroll.

In 2024, our goal is to from reading a few passages of text to entire scrolls, and we're announcing a new $100,000 grand prize for the first team that is able to read at least 90% of all four scrolls that we have scanned.

The scrolls stored in Naples that remain to be read represent more than 16 megabytes of ancient text. But the villa where the scrolls were found was only partially excavated, and scholars tell us that there may be thousands more scrolls underground. Our hope is that the success of the Vesuvius Challenge catalyzes the excavation of the villa, that the main library is discovered, and that whatever we find there rewrites history and inspires all of us.

It's been a great joy to work on this strange and amazing project.
