Sadhguru decodes Kala Bhairava

In the tradition, particularly in the Shaivite traditions that have spanned across the subcontinent, Kala Bhairava is regarded as a fierce manifestation of Shiva, representing the mastery over time and destruction of ignorance.

He is often associated with cremation grounds where the most fundamental ignorance dissolves.

That is, the body that we accumulate. We go about living as if we are that accumulated mass of earth, which we call as my body today. That ignorance dissolves.

With that ignorance, which is the foundational stone for all ignorance, dissolves.

He is also known as protection of sacred spaces.

That is, he is the Kshetra Pala and mastery over time and in turn life and death.

Kala Bhairava is not a deity of destruction in its simplistic sense, but a profound representation of time itself in its active, unstoppable dimension.

He reminds us that time shapes everything and nothing escapes its reach.
