BREAKING: Amazon warehouse workers in Garner, NC have filed for a union election after three years of organizing.
If they win, RDU1 would be the second unionized warehouse in the U.S.
people still arguing over the class position of baristas and whatnot are missing the point. They are exploited. They have beef with the ruling class. They suffer. They are proletarians. They are comrades. This nonsense about blue haired baristas with septum piercings and they/them pronouns is queerphobia couched in Marxist jargon. When the revolution happens all that matters is which side you are on and whether you’re willing to fight for your class.
Remember: If unions didn’t matter, powerful corporations wouldn’t spend millions of dollars every year trying to stop them from forming. Keep up the fight.
Look at this graph.
The share of national income going to the richest 10 percent was lowest (and share to lower 90 percent highest) when union membership was at its highest.
As unions have weakened, inequality has widened.
This is why we must build back union power.

Just an FYI for people referencing the Civil Rights Movement as the ideal and legal means of protesting, students sitting in at lunch counters, in movie theaters, in bus terminals and marching in public parks were violating laws and ordinances and agents of the state were also called out to violently suppress these protests.
Much of this bill was originally written by lobbyists for the Florida Chamber of Commerce, which represents large employers (and campaign contributors) like Publix Super Markets, U.S. Sugar Corp. and Universal Studios.
Ron DeSantis has now signed a bill into law that gets rid of local living wage laws in Florida cities.
The law also stops local governments from passing heat-protections for workers like water breaks and mandatory shade.
It also gets rid of predictable-scheduling laws.
