@NJM71 You've missed out average bank rate in UK over the last 50years = 7.12%. Employer & ee NI rate roughly 20%, start salary £2.3k growing 5%pa. Compound the NI balance at 7.12% you smash that figure by about double (I think)

@IChronicle just a heads up: I get immense value from podcasts, e.g. AJBell. The IC podcast is excruciatingly bad. Inarticulate 'umm-ing' and 'err-ing' and the brainless 'ye-know' punctuate superficial droning by clueless males with nothing to say. Try harder.

Is it just me? I can see that if we were to follow the science and save (say) 500,000 lives, we would have banned alcohol, tobacco, salt and vehicles that go over 45mph. Managing a country is complex. Eg judging when folks would accept limits on freedoms @bbclaurak
