LeBron James reveals he turned down $10 million from Reebok before signing with Nike
"I took on 3 pitches. Adidas, Reebok and Nike. The best pitch that I got where I thought I'd end up was Reebok. At the time Reebok had the NFL"
"I was a high school senior, and they gave me a check for $10 million if I promised not to go see anybody else"
"My mom looked at me and said trust your gut. If they are offering you this, who knows what the other companies may offer you. Do what you think is right"
"I said thank you, but I'd be remiss if I did not take the pitches from the other companies. I may have cried on the way home"

DURING JOB INTERVIEW:
"Why are you leaving your current role?"
Most candidates say: "I am looking for more growth opportunities and a better company culture."
THE WINNING ANSWER:
HR will always be HR.
You can’t predict them.
Your email can be flawless and still end up in the void, that’s the game.
But if you want to dramatically increase your reply rate, the first move is simple:
Delete the “I hope this email finds you well” era.
If you send that to me, I won’t reject you…
I’ll just sigh aggressively and close the tab. 😂
Here’s what actually gets responses about 60% of the time:
Interviewer : "Why is there a gap in your CV?
Don't Say :
❌ "I was laid off"
❌ "No one would hire me"
Career gaps are more common than you think.
And they are not automatic red flags.
Sometimes you need space, family time, healing, school, or simply a moment to realign your career path.
What matters most is how you communicate your story and the value you bring as you return to the workforce.
Here are clear, confident answers you can use:
✅ Sample Answer 1 (Personal reasons):
"I took time away to support my family and manage important personal responsibilities. During that period, I focused on personal development, and now l'm ready to return with clarity and renewed commitment."
✅ Sample Answer 2 (Planned break):
"| intentionally stepped back to reset and gain clarity on my long-term goals. That time allowed me to refocus, upskill, and now l'm excited to bring that perspective into my next role."
✅ Sample Answer 3 (Health reasons):
"I experienced a health situation that required my full attention. I gave myself the time to recover and prioritize my well-being, and I'm now fully prepared and energized to reenter the workforce.!"
✅ Sample Answer 4 (Layoff):
"My role was impacted during company restructuring. Rather than rushing into the next thing, I used the time to upskill, reassess my strengths, and prepare intentionally for the next step in my career."
Keep your answer brief, positive, and focused on how you're moving forward.

HR: Berapa expected salary awak?
Jawapan salah:
❌ RM2,500
❌ RM3,500
Korang kena elak bagi jumlah spesifik.
Okay let's say gaji korang sekarang ni RM2,000 and sekarang nak demand RM3,500. Korang still tak boleh straight cakap nak RM3,500.
Ini sebabnya:
A Gen Z joined the team.
Week one.
During onboarding, the manager said,
“We sometimes stay late during peak periods.”
Gen Z nodded.
Then asked,
“Is that paid… or just expected?”
The room went quiet.
- No attitude.
- No rebellion.
- Just a question.
Later that day, HR mentioned “growth opportunities.”
Gen Z replied,
“Does growth include raises, or just more responsibility?”
Again, silence.
- No laziness.
- No entitlement.
- Just clarity.
That’s when the team realized something.
When people say
“Gen Z is lazy,”
what they really mean is:
Gen Z watched old generation
- skip meals,
- miss birthdays,
- work weekends,
- and burn out
only to be told
“budgets are tight”
and “be grateful you have a job.”
So Gen Z chose differently.
- They don’t romanticize overwork.
- They don’t confuse suffering with ambition.
- They don’t trade health for praise.
They still work hard.
They just refuse to work for nothing.
It’s not laziness.
It’s pattern recognition.
And honestly,
after everything old generation went through…
Can you really blame them?
Jumpa wallet tu ujian. Guna card orang makan KFC sampai RM65 tu pilihan. Bukan tersalah. Bukan tertekan. Itu keputusan sedar.
Tapi apa reaksi kita?
“Takpe, aku bayarkan.”
“Jangan viralkan.”
“Bagi chance…”
Inilah ayat yang bunuh empati mangsa
dan hidupkan keberanian penjenayah.
