Bam scored 83 because the Wizards defense couldn't keep their hands to themselves. Unfortunately that's a tough topic for Ime since he got fired from his last job for cheating on his wife because he couldn't keep his hands to himself either
“I saw he only made 6 threes but 40 free throws or something like that, tells the story right there and....the Washington Wizards.”

Mikal Bridges on if he would have tried to break Kobe’s record if in that situation:
“Yeah, probably. If you have that moment … you might not get it again.”

Bought the orange version. I just want to pass it on my way to the office every day and smile that a guy that does all the things you need to win that don't go in the box score has the greatest scoring box score of the modern era.
There’s no team that would want someone to break Kobe’s record against them. You have to be able to leave the game and say you did everything you could to prevent him from breaking it unless you want to lose your job as a coach.
Tim Legler believes Erik Spoelstra felt a sense of obligation to keep Bam Adebayo in the game during the fourth quarter. But he didn’t like how the Washington Wizards handled the situation resorting to fouling once Bam reached 70 points why not just play him straight up .
Tim Legler understands Erik Spoelstra leaving Bam in to make history last night:
“I have so much respect for Erik Spoelstra. His obligation in that moment was to his player. If the game gets out of hand and now you legitimately have a chance to get a 70–80 point game, you’ve got to let that guy have the opportunity… Because you owe it to Bam, and Spo loves Bam very much. I do think it put Spo in a position where he had no choice but to let it happen — even though it probably goes against everything he believes about how the game should be played”

Colin Cowherd on the criticism Bam is receiving for scoring 83 points:
“Bam Adebayo scored 83 points last night. Everybody is attacking him. This is what we do in America. The minute there’s success we have to tear everybody down. 83 is 83. He’s an excellent basketball player. When Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points his team was fouling the Knicks to get extra possessions. When Kobe scored 81 against an awful Raptors team, the Lakers led by 15 with 4:30 left and Kobe scored another 11. Bam had 31 in the 1st! 62 after 3 quarters! It was totally legitimate! Every star in this league has had the chance to play the Wizards and they don’t score 83!”
